Enfield Town v Carshalton

Full Time Score 2-2

Honours even at the QE2. A game of two halves, with both teams needing the points. Disappointing for Town to drop 2 points, after leading 2-0 at the interval, but a precious point gained, and an improvement on our recent run of defeats.

Roman wasn't built in a day, and George will have learned a lot about his players today, and where he needs to strengthen the team for the daunting task ahead in the second half of the season.

So Steve and Jason's style of management was all about F this and F that . If that is what people think they are deluded. What I do know is that if they had let a 2 goal lead slip against the bottom team in the table they would have been crucified by some . They have moved on remained dignified in their departure , focus your energies on supporting the team moving forward and stop having a pop at the management team that had us competing for promotion for 3 seasons running in the Ryman North , then achieved the goal of retaining Ryman Prem football last season . Move on and stop looking back . Them two did the club proud.

I think you should re-read cd's post. It was contrasting styles of mangement and making a point that even you should surely agree with.

I also agree that letting a two goal lead slip or even not scoring more during their undoubted dominance in the first half deserved chastisement. The players got it during the game however and not in the dressing room. Thus the fans knew the management had seen the same failings that they hsd seen. This fact gave them confidence in the future.

Having said all of the above no one I have spoken to has denied that Steve and Jason did us proud but it was time for Steve to move on. There was no prospect of improvement. Whether it was against the bottom club or not yesterday was our first point since September 21st and that is why Steve hsd to go.

Encouragement from the sides. Animation from the sides. CONSTRUCTIVE criticism from the sides. A rapport with us as supporters. An attempted change of tactics when things weren't going right in the 2nd half.

These are all things shown from Borg and Bolton yesterday that we're never evident under the previous management. Not denying the success of Newings reign but as Steph has said, there was no chance of any further progression partly for some of the above reasons.

Can I suggest we let this one go.

Surely we all know why Comeon has reacted so sharply.

Leave it and move on.

I cannot see the point in repeatedly bringing Steve into the frame.

He has gone.

We have new Management in place and hopefully, given time we will slowly move up the league.

Think George would be as disappointed as we were letting a 2 goal lead slip, but just wait for a few training sessions to pass and let's see if the fitness improves, which was evidently lacking in the last 30 minutes yesterday.

One game - One point - it's a start.

Nice highlights as ever Mr End.  The Carshalton fan standing near the camera must surely have the campest goal celebration ever!!

Also reassuring to hear some of George's, erm... instructions from the far side.  He has not mellowed!

Recent events are obviously still a little raw with Steve and Jason - that's only natural, football is ultimately a results business and it must feel incredibly harsh when you've given as much of your life as they did to our club.

I'm a big fan of our new manager and I think, and hope, that the board have done the right thing in the interests of our club. That said, I'm not in any doubt that Steve and Jason gave their all for us and enriched our club greatly. Even those who were calling for a change cannot deny the great times we've had in the last 4 and a half years - Steve and Jason have moved us on and most ETFC fans will be forever grateful for that.

I hope, in time, they'll feel that they'll want to come back from time to time - I can assure them they'll receive a warm welcome, just as Jim Chandler does when he returns. I'm sure they'll both go on to bigger and better things in football, having learnt from their time with us, and, who knows, maybe a return in the future a la George Borg!
