Slough v AFC Hayes (Brook House)

why were the two players sent off ? according too the camera man who zoomed in to the incident he saw no violent physical contact between the players , so it seems like a total over reaction by the referee again.

I said that through the viewfinder at the time I saw no punches thrown and the video seems to confirm that. Just seemed to be grappling and verbals really.

Oh dear!

Maybe it was the aftereffects from Tuesday, but today it looked like the players had started on the Christmas Turkey and Wine already! Too many ball-watchers, too many players on different wavelengths, not enough organisation, not enough desire. When we did eventually start playing, we promptly lost concentration and gave away a completely avoidable goal.

I though we missed Dave Woozley's influence today. IMO we can't get him and Smith back quickly enough!

I think you're spot on about Dave Woozley,Nathan.I thought we struggled with both full back positions yesterday until

Sean Fraser and Ryan Lake came on.Thought Ryan Lake was excellent and should be commended for his stirring display.

I wonder if Neil or Jon can answer please, why Ryan was left on the bench for so long,is he carrying a knock?

Disappointed to lose and how lethargic some of the players were yesterday for 70 minutes but thought we were very unluckynot to get something from the game in the latter part of the game, when our subs were introduced.

The Scott Harris injury certainly didn't help,as we seemed to lack physicality upfront to mix it with the AFC Hayes

central defenders.

Also thought the central midfield pairing of Short and McClurg struggled until we changed shape. They gave the AFC Hayes

players far too much room and failed to close them down.

Losing to a team like AFC Hayes is always a bitter pill to swallow but we all know that yesterday was not our usual type of performance and luck wasn't on our side either.

The best thing I thought about being at the game was seeing Jake Parsons training with Slough.Let's hope we sign him!

He's quality.

To be honest Lakey is potentially now going to be suspended for 6 games (he has 3 games for Bedfont Sports which spans 4 of our games, and potentially a further 2 if the FA do not overturn his red from Dunstable), and Ben had played the last 2 against Royston and Dunstable and played well, so we did not want to change it.

Cheers Neil for the reply. That's going to be a headache for you and Jon,how long is Wooz out for?

You know I rate Ben Edwards highly but it was evident yesterday that he struggled in the left back position[being right

footed] and I thought he was sorely missed in midfield ie doing the donkey work, putting in the tackles.

The game plan didn't go to plan unfortunately.Thought you got the substitions spot on,just thought Lakey should have come

on a lot sooner. He made a big difference when he did enter the fray and also offered vocal encouragement to the players.

I'm sure we'll bounce back against Chertsey. How bad is the Scott Harris injury?

Not sure about an over reaction. Jamie clearly laid hands on the Hayes player and if you do that you run the risk of seeing red. Not sure if the Hayes player did similar back but with the handbags between the pair of them it was an understandable decision by the ref. I thought the officials had a superb game overall.

Nice to see you back on the forum Ian.  :)

To be fair having looked back at the incident, red for both was probably a bit harsh, they grappled a bit, but neither did more than a bit of shoving and holding, however I guess it is down to interpretation in an incident like that, so would not be something we would even consider appealing.

In terms of Wooze, outside chance of being fit for Chertsey, however more likely Uxbridge, Hatchett got a kick on the same part of his leg as he did at Royston, so had to come off.

Blounty still a couple more weeks away after breaking down in training.
