Match Fixing

Old Dodder

Recommended Posts

Reiss Noël and Joe Wooley have both pleaded guilty to match fixing and have received small fines in return for assisting with investigations into Australian Football betting scam.

In addition 2 players have been arrested over here in th UK. Both played for Whitehawk and previously played for Carshalton amongst others.

Hopefully this matter can finally be brought to a close and all the innocent clubs affected by this disease can put this behind them.

Agree,I am still surprised reiss was involved, well actually both and they appear to have got a result in all honesty when it could of resulted in a custodial sentence.

Hopefully lessons are learnt and the main players ie the big men are punished very harshly to hopefully put a stop to this.

That's right as earlier reports had them barricading their hotel room

Disappointed that they both got involved.

It would be nice to think that's going to be the end of it but inebitably there will be talk of last season even though there's no evidence to substantiate any claims.

Those two have dodged a bullet with nothing more than a paltry fine. Lucky lads and I wonder if they've had to spill the beans on what they know to get off so lightly?

No sport is free from cheating and corruption, and no country either. The only possible cure is to make the penalties so stiff and the vigilance so tight that the rewards are easily outweighed by the risk of being caught and sent to jail.

The penalty for those two guilty incumbents doesn't tick that box.

The problem is,what are the penalties ?

As far as playing football, I think I am right that their careers are over, that is a punishment in itself .

Obviously it sounds like they have given information against the people who made this happen,if their information puts a stop to this then many people will see their plea and leniant sentences as worthy.

I think without knowing the full story ,which we don't it's hard to say what they deserved.

They both got different fines which suggests they were guilty in different ways

Seems Reiss had five counts and Joe four against them.

Seems yet more footballers are involved with another two,Sam Sodje,ex margate and Portsmouth punching someone to get a red card & £70'000 and an unnamed player, where will this madness end???

To an extent I hope this isn't the end of it,I hope as much is uncovered as possible and those responsible driven out of football forever
