V Dunstable Town

Without doubt the worst referring performance I have ever seen. Avery should have been off. Who scores equalizer? Avery! Then he defends everything. The first sending off was a farce with the ref not seeing anything and overruled by a Lino 3 times further away.

Bates and unders feel for you. We were the better team. And deserved far more.

I am literally disgusted by the officiating today.

Marcus I think you mean Leech, Avery is a better player and not as dirty as that over paid donkey Leech.

Dunstable Town 3-2 Slough Town. 1-0 to us HT. Comfortable. Smith fouled, last man Leach gets yellow not red. They equalise (Leach scores). Mix up at back, 2-1. Lake sent off after linesman over-rules ref who had played on when Lake had kicked ball 30' in air (not what a striker would do). They score worldy 3rd. Hatchet gets clipped on edge of box and somehow Dyer gets booked. Wheeler scores worldy free kick. Wheeler sent off, second yellow.

Summary: farce of a ref performance, proud of Slough players' battling until the bitter (?!) end. If they are the best team in the league, then we will really not be far away at the end of the season.

I heard Dyer got booked for asking the Ref why the player wasn't booked for the trip on the edge of the area. Just about sums the Ref up really.

Kirby, think you're getting avery mixed up with leach!!! Both useless ex slough centre backs but only one played tonight. ;) can only echo what's already been said. Feel sorry for the lads who didn't deserve that at all. We can mix it with anyone in this league and I honestly believe we can win it. Need to get another run together starting Saturday. Neil/Jon keep the lads heads up, can't be there Saturday but hopefully the support will be as vocal again to motivate them again. I know there's little we can do about tonight's god awful refereeing display so best thing we can do is do the talking with our football!!! COYR!!!

we deserved to be ahead at half time without really creating too much throughout the game we had control of the match 1st half

Leech should have gone the 1st time and the 2nd time. no excuses justify how on earth that did not happen. as soon as gives the free kick on the strong tackle on Smith he has to go. he has 2 reasons to give him a red yet gives a yellow. its either a red card or not even a foul surely as he did get some of the ball but was ridiculously reckless not to mention the fact Smith was clear without it

we then find a linesman suddenly take it upon himself to give a "foul" that not 1 person was appealing or expecting to be given in a month of Sunday's despite the ref not even bothering to wave away an appeal (because there wasn't one because nothing happened) standing much closer

was just sickening and insulting to after a cynical foul right on edge of the box by Leech that stopped a clear shooting chance resulted in a yellow card for Dyer and a free kick where the wall was not even set 10 yards. superb free kick by Wheeler before his foolish challenge got himself a 2nd yellow. suddenly ref remembered cynical fouls could result in 2nd yellows.

huge credit to the team for how they battled till the end and we gave it a good go to get back an unlikely equaliser. also superb noise behind the goal from our fans. the home fans were borderline pathetic. dead as a dodo. just a few stupid snide comments from some plonkers on the way out

we just have to get this out of our systems and go again. we conceded 2 sloppy goals tonight and maybe did not create as much as we would have liked but neither did they. lady luck was most definitely on their side tonight.

can accept defeat but when it comes like this and you leave a game feeling beyond cheated its very hard to take. boys did not deserve to lose at all

I think we've certainly had worse Refs but just shows how bad some of the others were!

I think the main difference tonight was that the whingers had the luck and we didn't.

think difference was tonight the officials completely affected the momentum swing and the result of the final result. 2 or 3 huge calls that were inexplicably given with little logic applied. cannot remember many refs doing that this season. been plenty of beyond laughable decisions recently both for and against us but nothing that has as major an effect on the game as tonight

There has been plenty said about the referee but Bakes and I have agreed not to comment as we don't feel it's right for us to do so. All I will say is we had to wait 50 minutes to go in with our chairman to speak to him and the assessor and came out even more frustrated than when we went in.....and that's saying something! No more on that subject from me.

Thought they were a decent side with a few outstanding individuals, in particular Roach the number 9 but thought Foulser and in particular Guy, who for me was the best player on the pitch, did a great job on him.

Felt we deserved our 1-0 lead at half time. Very hard to comment on the 2nd half from a footballing perspective so will just say we were proud of the effort of our lads and our refusal to lie down which very nearly resulted in an unlikely point after we threw everything at them in the last 10 mins despite being reduced to 9 men.

Finally want to say thank you to our supporters who were excellent tonight, particularly in the 2nd half, and their reaction at the end told me they were fully behind this group of players and appreciated their efforts which was great to see.

This defeat won't dent our confidence, it will do just the opposite and will spur us on to go again and try to put together another run of wins that we know we are capable of. The same level of support on Saturday would be very much appreciated by the lads as they look to bounce back straight away with a win.

Still very annoyed about last night this morning.

Seems that once again even though they were constantly moaning at the ref over nothing it was our players that ended up being booked for dissent for questioning the (wrong) decisions. It really ruins the game when either team does that which is why I'm glad er seem to have a group of players who have lowered the amount of moaning compared to last season's team.

We were pretty sure that the only reason why their second goalscorer was in the right place to score was because he stopped earlier in the play to moan at the ref.

How Leach wasn't sent off is beyond me. On the thirsty one he does get the ball but it's two footed and last man, so of the ref blows it has to be red (that's before you consider that the tackle forced the injury that meant Ed had to go off not long after). The second was such a cynical trip nowhere near the ball on the edge of the area which surely deserved a second yellow.

Don't know what the linesman has seen for Lake's red but out seems he was the only one in the ground who saw it as the ref didn't even acknowledge anything had happened, and there was no appeal (for once) from the home team.

As for Wheeler his second yellow was stupid and obviously coming, we all said it behind the goal.

They got two lucky goals from lucky bounces and one great goal but they didn't really make Jake work much more than that. We didn't create much either and that's also quite frustrating as I thought they were poor at the back. We friendly didn't deserve to life that as we dominated possession for most of the game even with 9 men.

Can't believe it came down to the decisions of the men in the middle in a top of the table clash. It's the worst I've seen as a Slough fan and it ruined what should have been a great game.

On the plus side the noise from our end second half was probably the best for quite a while. We've just got to put it all out of our minds and focus on our next run of games leading up to and over the Christmas period. If that's the best the league have to offer, we will have no problem being up there. Daventry and Rugby are better than that lot.

Don't want to go on about the ref too much, his performance was there for all to see and the Dunstable fans I spoke to after the game, and even their goalkeeper seemed to agree that he didn't do us any favours. Hopefully the assessor saw this too. Haven't seen it mentioned and I couldn't see it from the other end but our players were also adament the 9 should have gone for the challenge in the corner so that would be two scorers for them who perhaps shouldn't have been on the pitch.

I want to say how proud I was of the performance, particularly at the end where we gave them a few frights with nine men! We never threw the towel in and I thought we kept our heads well when I think if I'd been on the pitch I might have gone postal!

The way I see it a travesty like last night can affect a club two ways. We can feel sorry for ourselves or use it to galvanise everyone even more and go again on an even better run of results. I believe in the team and I think we can win it this year. We have a set of fixtures coming up now that are all winnable, but a lot of teams that have caused us problems historically when perhaps they shouldn't have. We'll need to show the same intensity on the pitch and in the stands as last night.

my god whoever wrote that Dunstable report must have been working through the night to cover up the screwjob.

further I read down the report the more I am convinced the ref wrote it "Those who were castigating the referee should remember that it was the assistant who was instrumental in this and the referee was correct to consult." haha. cannot recall a report so strenuously defending a set of officials so much.

almost nothing honest in that report at all. wasn't luck their 2nd goal apparently it was persistence. the persistence of appealing to the ref. not sure he was even looking at Sommerville when it hit him instead whinging to the ref for no reason again

apparently we all agreed they were worthy winners and just looked for excuses. yeah every slough fan had the same idea of pretending to blame the officials of course

Agree totally Mark, my only concerns  now are suspensions and yellow cards mounting up.

The assessor fully agreed with the ref..... so make of that what you will.

I think this will galvanise the team going forward, as was shown in the last 10 mins of the match, the heads didn't drop.

Proud of all the players

Really disappointed to miss the game first and foremost and then really disappointed to hear that the run has come to an end in a game clouded by refereeing controversy. Obviously can only go on what is being said on here and the twitter reports of the game but I would say that it is a massive positive that we went down still fighting desperately for a point despite everything being against us and being down to nine men.

Let's hope the reported injury to Smithy isn't too bad.

The key thing is not to let this setback gnaw away at us, lets dust ourselves down and go again Saturday and try and get ourselves on another decent run. The last three games have taught us a lot and we know we can mix it with the best in this division. COYR

Wasn't there last night but just picking up on a comment from the Dunstable report:

Before a ball was kicked there was a call from the referee to Slough to dispense with their purple shirts as he deemed it, in the floodlights to be too close to Dunstable’s blue

Does anyone know (I'm suspecting Kit Man will) when this change was requested?

I've read his rambling witterings before and find them quite nauseas.

You rest assured his views would have been different if they had lost.
