Crows v The Rebels

Roystonjez

Recommended Posts

Twas a topsy turvy game as ARAAS has said.

We started the brighter and took the lead. The game then became feisty with Royston's number 10 Fehmi rolling around on the ground after a foul looking to get one of our players sent off (not sure who) but luckily the Ref saw through the cheating and didn't even dish out a yellow.

For the final 15/20 minutes of the first half we seemed to switch off and Royston probably should have scored.

Second half we came out firing again and but for their keeper who made a couple of blinding saves and a bit of luck we could have scored a couple more to put the game to bed.

The rest of the game was end to end stuff with Royston's number 2 IMO lucky to stay on the pitch after he clattered into the back of Ed Smith but amazingly the Ref didn't even give him a yellow.

Excellent win against a good Royston team with again Hollis and Foulser immense at the back.

Be careful Nathan - that is almost praise!

3 more points.

We've been pretty decent since you've been gone! Coincidence? :)

It's interesting to note that this blogger seems to think we're good enough to "make the step up to the next level".

That blogs a pretty good summary of the game.

Thought the report was excellent and sums up our club well!

Terrific 3 points from a pretty tight game between two well matched sides. Both sides had spells where they bossed the game and I thought our defence were excellent in the second half when we came under some intense pressure from them, not giving any clear cut chances away. I'd probably agree on Hollis for mom, closely followed by Foulser. Shame to lose Wooz, particularly with Lakey out now but thought Ben Edwards did well there.

I think Royston need to find a manager sooner rather than later. Definitely one of the better sides we've played this season but seemed to lack a bit of discipline and togetherness, in fact, they reminded me a bit of Slough last season! Some of the whining and play acting from them was frankly embarrassing to watch. Disagree that the ref had a poor game though; I thought he did a good job letting the game flow. Don't know if there was some previous from last season between Royston and Godalming but it was quite a feisty game, but to be honest, it gave the game an edge and added to the afternoon's entertainment. Hope the old fella who had a fall behind the goal in the first half is alright.

I was hoping for at least 4 points from the Daventry, Royston and Dunstable trilogy so I'm well happy with 6 so far. For me, Tuesday will be the toughest test of the season but I think these two results mean we can go there and play with a bit of freedom, knowing a loss wouldn't be the end of the world.

Not sure I would say previous Mark, however the game at their place was feisty last year also, and we ended up having Foulser and Johnnie Dyer sent off with 15 minutes to go all from the same incident, which was extremely harsh, that was at 2-1 and we went on to win 3-1.

If I am honest I think Royston tried to get in our faces throughout the game, and try to upset us, but one thing is our lads are quite happy to mix it with the best of them, and won't get intimidated very easy.

I thought we defended well as a team from front to back, and again was another professional performance, hopefully everyone is beginning to see why we have such faith in this group of players, as they are honest and very together.

Very tough one tomorrow against a Dunstable side who are on a fantastic run.

Ah that makes sense as I thought there was a lot of niggle out there early on in the game.

A great three points and of course I agree about Mr Hollis !!

And to the small minority of cup game doubters, have a look at Cirencester and Merthyr they are flying, so considering we were carrying a lot of injuries when we played them we didnt too badly.
