Thanks for all your support ... Firstly I can say I am absolutely gutted to have left Horley.

 

As has been mentioned, what on earth were Horley expecting to achieve this year ...

 

- we lost the vast majority of our senior players from last year

- the budget they had in previous years went

- so as a result we had to build a younger squad of players who wanted to play for Horley because they wanted to and not for the money

 

It is safe to say the committee are totally disfunctional and work against each other rather than together.

 

I believe it was always on the cards due to his long association with the club that Juppy was going to take over, if that was the case then why give me the job in the first place.

Welcome Trevor, its good to hear your views on this subject. 

 

Your comments are so true, what was Horley thinking you could achieve ....be champions  !

 

You had a hard task on your hands, and it looked from the outside that you was not supported altho' I do stand corrected. 

 

So what time did you have to achieve your goal ?  Its only just over a third of the season, where bit by bit your team has been improving by way of getting out of the relegation zone after a very difficult start to the season, which it would have been for anyone with a new young team with no funds available.

 

I feel for you and many other managers who are/have been in the same boat, and you're right, if Jupp was always going to be the 1st team amanger then why not appoint him originally ?  I probably know the answer, he didn't want the job nor fancy the task that lay ahead in starting with a near on complete new team ....!  But you took on the challenge and thats what you get in return !  Its not only Horley other clubs are to blame as well, it just frustrates me when good honest football men are treated this way.

Can i clarify a couple of things. Firstly i spoke toTrevor last night and as always he was positive but disappointed. He felt he had let me down as i recommended his appointment, i stand by my recommendation. However he doesn't owe me an apology, but that in itself speaks volumes about his character, he's a good bloke.

 

Secondly no blame should be laid at Antony Jupps door. To suggest he didn't take the job because because he didn't fancy the task ahead due to all the players leaving is nonsense. The decision to appoint Trevor was made in January. Nobody knew in January that all of those players were going to leave, at that time we had a solid CCL Premier squad.

But this time pretends to be someone else, which maybe illegal???? unfortunatley this takes away any credibility i thought the forum had. Those of you who know Trevor, maybe call him and have a chat as FSB says he is a top bloke. He in fact laughed at the thought of being called the real Trevor Smith!
