As news travels fast, I thought i would put a post on to update Padlock and all other users who may be interested in the latest news from Horley Town FC.

Unfortuntaley this evening I spoke to Trevor and agreed that we (Horley Town) and Trevor would part company. As you can all see our results havent been what any team would want, It wasnt for the lack of trying on Trevor's part but the club felt a change is needed.

I spoke to Juppy this afternoon and asked him if he would be able to look after the team with Chris Weller for the short term, neither I, Juppy or Chris want this as a long term solution as their priority is our youth team. They have agreed and hopefully will start to rebuild the teams confidence over the next few games.

I would like to confirm on this forum that Trevor has been a pleasure to work with and is a decent manager and i'm sure will be a success in his next role where ever that may be.

Anyone who has had to have these types of conversations will agree they are not something anyone will enjoy. I will keep you updated with any news of Trevors successor as and when I can.

Thanks for the update Mark. Personally I didn't need it. Not sure where the original post on this topic has gone but it was roughly 4 weeks ago that you were rumbled about sacking Trevor. I said it was a stay of execution and it bought him another funnily enough 4 weeks. I wish Trevor would of seen through the lies. This is a tad bit embarrassing I think. You knew then and you now know again that you have a snake in your camp. Who is it ? How did I know back then and again first to know tonight ? Talk about shitting in your own living room. Best of luck Juppy, I think you will find all your contacts are now at South Park. NA night x

So you sack Trevor and only have a short term solution - why?

You've obviously beenn thinking about this for a while, so why no permanent replacement?

Or is this just to appease certain quarters and say it's short term and then all of a sudden come and say we've decided to appoint Jupp and Weller full time - which is obviously what's going to happen.

It should be noted that at the time you fired Trevor, Horley were outside the relegation zone - can two rookie managers at this level keep them out of trouble?

Good luck in the future Trevor, stabbed in the back by a two faced chairman!

On the other hand - based on what Padlock has said if any of your former decent players are at South Park I wish you all the very best in signing them.

This isn't a dig at Jupp and Weller, I wish you all the best ... Just a poorly run, clueless club at boardroom level.

Stan mate, anyone can save them when the bundles of mysterious cash rolls in. Listen if I'm totally honest, Juppy deserves a crack at it purely based on time served at the club. The way it has been handled absolutely stinks though. Yes Mark the chairman I'm talking about you, a distinct lack of sack filled men's parts was missing by you last month when like I've said you got rumbled about sacking Trevor after a certain match. If you were to come on this public forum and admit you told lies and covered up then you will have earnt that respect back. Also Juppy was in on the act last month and I'll tell you why, he was in fact the person who told a person that Trevor would be sacked after the home match. Now this other person is a 100% football man and I would not dishonour his reputation by naming him on here. Juppy knows I'm right, the chairman knows I'm right, local footballers know I'm right. Unless someone associated with HTFC comes on here and questions me I will not be commenting on this again.

I think we all need to move on with this now, as the Club is more important than any of us things have not been right at the Club for a while now and maybe there are lots of measures that need to be taken to put things right, but for all sorts of reasons the club felt a change was needed I'm not sure there is a right way of sacking a Manager that would make everyone happy.

The Club now needs everyone to start pulling in the same direction it's a fantastic venue and envy of a lot of Clubs, it deserves a lot better and with the right team and structure including committee and players I'm sure the club could go far, if only people would stop putting themselves first and think of the Club instead.

Interesting comments on this subject.

I do stand corrected, but didn't most of the Horley players leave at the end of last season after Rennie decided to pack it in ...again !

Trevor had to pick up the pieces with almost a new whole team and build it up from the beginning of the season, that in iteself is alot harder than people think.  So yes, there is a buliding programme here which needs time, infact after a poor start, Trevor was getting some results together that got Horley off the bottom and out of the relegation zone,  then come Saturday Horley got by Ash and then by Fareham midweek, so easy option is to sake the manager.

I do appreciate it is a results business, but one must realise the circumstances of what prevails having a greater interest in their youth team by promoting players to the first team.....surely this takes time for all concerned if thats the way Horley want to go.  If the committee supports the manager this season, avoid relegation then the club will be stronger next season with these youngsters.

Will all due respect, are Horley asking some of these youngsters (Youth team players) to get to the heights of mid-table ?

Horley has to decide which way they want to go, keeping these youngsters, play these youngsters and avoid relegation, if this is the brief for the new manager, wasn't Trevor achieving that ?

Finally, I am sure I've read that Jupp jumped ship, signed and played for South Park recently, is this the same Jupp they want to be caretaker manager Padlock ? .,

I blame Raynes Park Vale, when have they ever scored 6.No Club bar Windsor has ever had the balls to support younger players within the Club structure.Panic stations have set in at Horley for sure,so they have no long term plan.So take the easy option and sack a decent Football Man.By the way Horley did beat Badshot Lea and Windsor recently,no mean achievement.

Why do people always just look at the football side, being a Manager yes the priority and number one job is the Team, but it's also about the club and having a good rapport with the Team, Management and also supporters, I'm not saying Trevor did not have that but people from the outside or even inside sometimes see or hear what they want and make ill judged statements.

I suppose it's never easy when a Manager goes. We are quite fortunate to have had Lyndon for a while now and hopefully a while longer yet as I've no idea how our people would cope if he departed.

I refer to my comments on the earlier thread about what exactly were Horley expecting this season? They lost many players and Trevor was essentially asked to move his Youth / Reserve team up, some of whom are going to do quite well at this level, and arguably already were. It was always going to take time though and it was going to be a tough season but there was potential there.

What is the worst case scenario at Horley, relegation? So what! It won't make any difference to the crowds, as they are poor enough already, and even if the worst had happened and they had gone down, with three up from Division One and a year's further experience I'm sure they would have been able to bounce back, possibly with a bit of momentum. Instead, it looks like a team of youngsters with a bit of potential may well be broken up which is a pity. Many have been with Trevor for a while so some will surely depart to where he appears next.

Short term this will probably make the difference (if it works) between finishing in the bottom three or finishing lower mid-table, unless Horley also have unrealistic targets for the new manager that is. Long term, they will have missed out on seeing many youngsters come through into a good team, and for the next decade these players will probably be plying their trade at Horley's rivals, trying their hardest when they play against the team that they believe shafted their Manager.

Maybe there was something else going on behind the scenes which the outside world were not aware of, like a personality clash or something similar. Either way, it appears that almost everyone loses here. Pity.

eye1 your comments are noted, but you can't stop speculation, and this is quite a close knit community. The truth will probably come out in due course, and I always find comments like "I'm sure will be a success in his next role" a bit confusing as if the person concerned is going to be successful, why would you get rid of them in the first place?

Bad Guy,is never one for correct facts, hence the Fareham quote.

Oops sorry Smudge, I meant Farnham of course, thank you forever correcting me. ;)

For example Eye ?

So are you saying that Trevor didn't get on with the players, supporters or are you more concerned what people OUTSIDE the club were saying ?

Sometimes, perhaps the manager (Trevor) felt he didn't have the club or committee backing ?  Its a 2 way street dont you think?  All I'm saying, its what Horley want this season and for the future a long term plan or a quick fix to avoid being relegated ?....and what will Jupp & Co. do better than Trevor ?  I suppose you'll say that as Jupp being manager of the youth team, and some of his players play for the first team, he will get the players to perform better ?

Stand corrected Viper, but they(Mole Valley) cannot sack their Manager surely.Premier sides in this League have had it easy for to long, rarely were 3 promoted from Div 1,due to ground grading issues.Times have changed, the old guard are there for the taking.
