Slough v Daventry

I'm not going to have a moan at 3spirit as he is entitled to his views and this is exactly the place to share them. It won't surprise you to know I am with Bakes (and the majority) on this one when I say I am a little puzzled by the slightly negative posts but we're never all going to agree all of the time are we!

George was very unlucky not to start the game as he's played well in the last few games. We went with Ben for his defensive ability, knowing the threat they have with the big lad Confue breaking from midfield. Ben wasn't at his best in the 1st half in my opinion but when we came under some pressure in the 2nd half he showed his qualities, breaking up their attacks with some timely interceptions and in the end we feel we got that call right.

Wheeler was struggling to have an impact going forward in the 2nd half and they were getting at us a little down our left hand side so we brought George on to do a disciplined job which he did perfectly in our opinion. He did actually win his headers, worked hard IMO, stopped the threat down that side and played the pass of the match when he switched the play from left to right with a fantastic 50 yard ball. In the time that he was on I think we created 3 chances to maybe 1 or 2 from them so despite going a bit more solid/defensive we still created the better chances in the last 15 mins.

We love being positive and going forward (and I think our 'goals scored' column reflects that) but sometimes you have to do the right thing to ensure you get the right result, particularly against a strong side like Daventry. We could have brought on an attacking player instead of George and gone all out for the 3rd goal and ended up getting caught at the other end and drawing 2-2.......then people would be on here moaning that we'd thrown away 2 points!!!

We won Jon so whatever people say on here u and Neil both made the correct choice and we walked away with 3 points! Like I said first well done to the lads for working hard and getting the 3 points that's all that matters

Disagree if "The time to support the team is at the game. The forum is for debate and discussion". nothing would get done.( most of the work gets done Sunday to Friday ) The time to support the team is 7 days a week. Even someone who comes along to the games could do there little bit by say, getting a poster up in there local (shop or pub) or asking there bosses to sponsor a game, a ball, a player ect. It's non-stop so all help is needed to keep our Club going.

Disagree again ( a bit ) "The forum is for debate and discussion" and Support, and a joke.

Is it getting to the point where people can't criticise even constructively? Won't be much of a discussion forum if that's the case. Should be open for debate as we will all see the game differently and will all have opinions on players and performances. To have everyone only post positive and praise will lead to a dull(er) place.

I think I'm being made into the new Hotspur! lol!

I'm not intending to be negative. From my perspective I view my observations as a positive in terms of stirring up the

players, and my wishing for impact subs/pacy forward.

Jon has made many valid points on his post and I recognise some of the things he's saying.Don't agree with him on all but

do on some ie Ben Edwards, thought he played well in both halves.Agree on George's pass but not his headers etc.

I think we can agree to differ on certain areas of the game.No malice is intended.Just want to spark some debate and read

some alternative views rather than all this sycophantic arse creeping! ha ha ha!

I'm not disputing that it was a great win and the better team won on the day,to which the management and the team need

to be commended.I just felt we made hard work of it in the 2nd half. That's all.

Fine margins and all that.........

I have just watched the highlights...... definite handball for the Daventry goal, and very difficult to understand how both the referee and assistant missed it.

Could see it clearly from behind the goal at the other end of the pitch Curtis!

George if you are reading this you have been playing really well. So unlucky to be dropped but the competition for places is hotting up and we won so managers called it right.  Never easy to come on as sub but you did a job and did it well.

Fantastic result and the back four to a man were immense.  Wes does not often get the credit he deserves but difficult to get past and he made an unbelievable tackle in our box when the score was 2.1

Huge team performance all round guys keep going you are playing some great football and in every game each side will have a bit of a purple patch, Daventry did, and you were solid

COYR's.............................

Have to say it's been commented on. Few times but there support was embarrassing we were taking more away when we were losing every game 6-0!

Being generous, I'd say there was about a dozen of the 'Purple handful' attended the game.

That's still more than Burnham bring to our games and they are only a couple of miles down the road!

Don't really look at it as dropped, more a tactical move to counteract the opposition as good manager/s should do (creep creep lol).
