Slough v Daventry

We'll see from the video but it looked an absolutely blatant handball for their goal.

Great three points for us. We gave them a schooling in the first half and we dug in when under the cosh at times for the second half. Two great finishes from Dyer, I thought Wes Harrison had his best game for us but MOM was Foulser who was immense at the back, particularly in the second half. We go on to Royston in great nick.

COYR!

Well done to all the players, excellent performance and thoroughly deserved win.

Some really good performances from all the players.

Close call for MOTM between Johnnie Dyer, Adam Foulser and Warren Harris.

Sets us up nicely for Royston away which is another BIG 3 points.

Brilliant result and the three points that go with it.

First half we controlled things and deserved the lead at the break.Bit worrying at the start of the second half when we let ourselves get dragged into their up and under type of game which was to their advantage with their taller players.

But the determination of the last twenty minutes was terrific and brought the real decider and maybe 3-1 was a fair reflection overall.

Just a shame the other leading sides didnt drop points and as everyone says the next two games need the sort of performances we are starting to get used to.

Well done to the whole team/squad and the management team

Surprised that the "purple army" were nowhere to be seen. As usual the oppo brings no tangible support, despite them having a massive presence on my twitter feed! Their impressive start to the season looks to be evening out. Good luck to them next week against Maidenhead.

Excellent performance, can only echo the comments above. Thought we really dug in second half and ground out a thoroughly deserved win.

At one point I thought we were going to lose our composure and perhaps I was doing a disservice to these players based on what I've seen from Slough teams of yesteryear.

It was a cracking team performance personally I think Mcclurg is an unsung hero - does a huge amount of work in the middle of the park. Foulser and Hollis were again excellent. JD is now banging them in and with a terrific work ethic. And then there is Wooz. Absolute class act. Doesn't matter where he plays always looks composed. Notice he went off holding his thigh so hope that isn't a long term problem.

Big games are coming thick and fast COYR

Another excellent performance, slightly nervous second half but the team put in a great shift to keep Daventry out and seal the win.  Every player was excellent and this should make a massive statement of intent with several massive games coming up.  The defence were great yesterday and the midfield did exactly what was needed in that situation.  Good to see Smith get a goal and Dyer to keep up his brilliant recent record.  Just keeps adding to our great run of form as well.  Hopefully it will continue for a long time to come, COYR!

You've read my mind,Reading Rebel, regarding Man Of The Match.Thought those three were excellent and well worthy of high

praise.

For me Johnny Dyer shades it for his wonder goals.

Thought Jamie McClurg and Ben Edwards both had decent games and had their work cut out in centre midfield yesterday.

Disappointed with George Short's contribution when he came on as sub,as I thought he would be chomping at the bit

given the importance of the game and that it was bloody cold.

Thought management made the right calls with the substitions but for someone with bags of potential,as George Short has,

he didn't provide the energy that was needed in my view.

Luckily for us Johnny Dyer came up trumps.

Didn't think Dave Woozley was at his best either, though of course,no one plays well every game.

Glad we obtained 3 pts against one of the better teams in the division but am I the only fan who was disappointed by our 2nd half showing?

On another day we could have come unstuck.

I think Stuart a very poor decision took the wind out of our sails a bit (wait until you see the video), and got Daventry back into the game, so was always going to be tough... they are used to winning, and we stuck to our task, and restricted them to very few efforts on target...

Disagree about George, thought he came on and done a job for us also.... and one of the balls he played out to JD was different class... won his headers and tackles, and gave us a bit more defensively than Wheels does.. done exactly what we asked of him.

Congratulations to the team, sqaud, and management on a superb performance and win against a strong Daventry side.

It reminded me of the Barton match where in both games straight from the kick off we started at a high tempo keeping the opposition in there own half and as a result were rewarded with early goals in turn helping the team to play with confidence and high intensity and not forgetting the work rate team ethic and playing for each other.

These are the ingrediants witch has let us down over a whole seasons campaign in the past few years can this be the year when we buck the trend.

Unfair to pick a name as there were a lot of contenders but Foulser Wooz and Hollis were immense in the second half when we were under pressure.

Nice bit of reporting (not) on the Daventry web site.

In the first paragraph it still states that we are the title favourites and that a brace of goals was scored by Slough's top striker Dyer.

I wish people would get their facts right before they do their match reports.

Eddie, it actually says "a brace from top Rebels striker Johnnie Dyer". I think we can agree that he is of course a top striker especially on recent evidence!!

Not sure why we are "Title favourites", but as we're all aware Slough Town is still a scalp for some of the clubs in our league so perhaps that's why.

We all see games/players in different ways,Neil,as Don Juan DeMarcus has just pointed out.Obviously you need to be

diplomatic and sensitive to being critical of any of your players which is totally understandable.

As you know I like watching an inventive attack driven team.Thought our team worked well as a unit in the first half but distinctly dropped off imposing the pressure on Daventry in the second period.Of course,Daventry's play had something to do with this but not entirely.

I am of the opinion that we are still short of a pacy, tricky attacking player, who could make a difference when our play

stagnates,by being used to create space and bring momentum especially as an impact substitute, when Wheels or Wazza or any

of our strikers tire.

This is one area where I think we are missing a trick.Just an observation not a criticism.

Under Steve Bateman,we were well served in this way ie Jerome Anderson,Charlie Mpi or not pacy but certainly tricky in

Chris Herron,Steve Sinclair or the ageing but goal threatening Ben Abbey.

'Bates' biggest problem seemed to be taking off the wrong player or leaving it too late.

Something that I don't believe you or Jon,suffer from.
