Absolutely gutted about tonight. Baldock had 2 chances all night and scored 2 goals. We had 5 one on ones, 3 or 4 other chances and by far the majority of possession. Can't believe we didn't win that.

It's so hard to come away feeling positive but we were brilliant tonight in all departments, but goals is where it counts. Baldock apparently had 4 Hitchen players tonight.

Baldock didn't have any Hitchin players... Luke Gregson (was at Hitchin last season) played but he has played for Baldock all season.

Personally don't see what effect having players from higher levels playing the odd game anyway. We had a link with Hemel last season and the ones who came down did not seem to have the heart. It was soon knocked on the head. Edited by OD's

Dirtyclaret - we really couldn't believe our luck last night.  Didn't think there was much in it in the first half.  Not many chances - you just shaded it.  Second half was a different story.  Your goal came from a great cross.  It wasn't until we brought on the pace of Hennessey and Butina that we had anything about us, but you're right two shots and two goals.  We rode our luck in the last 15 minutes, although Nicky in goal pulled off some good saves, which your keeper equally did when we played you earlier in the season.

 

As for the part about the Hitchin players, SSMFL Pundit is right, Luke Gregson is the only Hitchin player we have and he is getting back to fitness after a long injury lay off.  We also had no Lee Harman last night who has scored 23 goals so far this season.

Re the '4 Hitchin players', like said it was just what we were told by someone in the crowd. Not sure where they got that from.

 

Don't get me wrong, wasn't belittling Baldocks performance/result at all, still think they're a very good side will be up there with the rest of us pushing hopefully.

 

Goals and clean sheets wins games and we struggle with both

I agree. I don't like the idea of dual registration players. A long term loan is fair enough, 2 months 3 months, but now and again players I never liked. Very rarely bring in the same passion and commitment. And your more often than not having to drop lads that turn up every week for a lad that's not interested.

 

However, if anyone's got a 30 goal a season stricker they want to lend us we'd be more than happy....lol
