Went To Watch Hornchurch Today

Well said Chris. At the end of the day, all us non-league fans do put our rivalries aside at the time of need.

Think I started something here which escalated out of control with some misinterpreted comments, but lets all move on and forwards from this. We've forged some good links with Hornchurch now and vice versa.

Let's see if we can address our own issues and move our club forwards to emulate the success that Hornchurch and the likes are currently reaping the rewards of again.

UP THE REBELS!

Chris - I'm not sure anyone was criticising you personally or implying that they could do any better. I don't believe that the Club or the Trust will benefit from you standing down and I would hope that this is not a decision you ultimately take. However, you are closer to the Club and Deaner than most people so everyone will always look to you for information whilst not always wanting to acknowledge that it is confidential and that disclosing it would place you in a difficult position.

I can also understand people's frustration at times though as with Deaner, contrary to the popular saying, no news is invariably negative. I've only been involved with the Club for a fraction of the time that you have but have seen it decline both on and off the pitch. I know that certain legalities have to be completed before launching the Trust officially and you know that I am committed to becoming part of that if invited as I hope others will be.

However, to overcome the general desire for news could I suggest that an update is communicated now so everyone knows what stage we are at with the formation and official launch of the Trust as well as any news regarding the feasibility study into Kennedy Park and the interesting latest developments regarding the land adjoining Wexham Park and the Sikh school. I'm more than happy to help in constructing and distributing something if resources are a problem.

With Hornchurch in 4th place and still in the cup they must be doing something right!!

We have nothing to lose and everything to gain by looking at how they have established a winning fourmula, and see what we can learn from them to help our situation.

We do not need to copy them but pick up what would suit us and move us forward.

If we dont sort our selves out and the club goes down, I might end up having to go shoping with the wife on a Saturday afternoon - or even worse end up watching Maidenhead!!!!!!!

Good luck with the cup uncle

I've been supporting Slough Town on and off (with long gaps when i think footie is taking over my life and have to take a break!) for over 25 years and I can understand how everyone can get depressed as we watch our club fall from the Conference to possibly playing in the vase next season. I remember our first season in the conference, bombing round the country - often watching us get thrashed but having a real laugh.

Didn't realise then that these were our glory years!

Yet despite the mess we are in i'm really enjoying this season, getting to meet loads of new people as well as old friends, going to new grounds.....

Sometimes i think we have to think of the positives; the amazing support we've still got despite everything, including lots of youngsters who are making a real noise at away games now. The fact that lots of people help out at the club - from the stewards, to people selling merchandise, to running the supporters association, the club isn't a one man and his dog show. Because Chris is right, football is in a mess with two many egotists who take over clubs, promise the earth then walk away - never mind Leeds United, look at Farnborough and Barry Town for example. This is why a supporters trust is so important to hopefully one day take control of the club.

So despite living miles away i still support Slough, and reckon that one day hopefully in the not to distant future we can climb back up the pyramid, trying to remember to not let football take over my life and that supporting a club will inevitably be full of lows as well as hopefully lots of highs.

I think we can all take a leaf out of Brighton Rebels dedication to the cause and of course his mention of those 'youngsters' making the noise!

We are fortunate in the team that we do have helping out as we are blessed with a number of people who do a lot of work to keep the club going who often go without credit such as Mr Sliski.

I agree with the idea of a supporters meeting but we may have problems finding a venue in the run up to Xmas. This problem has also struck the launch party of the trust to be put back until January. We will see if we can gather some information to send out to not only season ticket holders but also those who've already signed up to the trust. The problem then comes from those not included in the above, how do they get covered? Open invitation in the programme??

It's a tricky one. My personal opinion on this is that the information should only go out to season ticket holders and those already signed up to the trust. I've had conversations with people who've rightfully not signed up to either for various good reasons, but at the same time, £10 to sign up to the trust is hardly a major expense?

And on a final point, what questions do you have Roge? Perhaps you could start another thread and I will answer what I can for you.

What does Roger want me to do ???

We can have a meeting anytime if you so wish, but until we get some feed back, I can't tell you anything......

The Trust will need new go ahead board members and until the inland revenue and bank problems are sorted we are not in a position to launch !

Some of these matters are beyond us at the moment as we are relying on other parties to do there bit for us ! (solicitors and Auditors)

then elections.........

However as most of you know me, I am available at most matches and always try to answer those questions that you may have and if I have got the answer you will get them....

cheers Chris

Roger for Secretary ????? or representative ???

Chris, delegate some of that work where possible then... This will save you getting hit with all the work and also make it easier for the Supporters to get on with things when you are away on holiday or cannot attend a game.

Spread the work like you've spread your waist! <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
