Hmmm, where do i begin with this…..

East Preston are a fantastic footballing side.  They train 3 times a week, are on contracts and are all paid too. The level of football that they are playing is borne out by their position in their league if you look at the table. They are 10 points clear (already) of the nearest opposition and frankly won't be where they are for long. We always knew that this was going to be a tough game for us but we gave it our all and the lads put a real shift in. Everyone at the club is incredibly proud of the effort they have put in in getting this far for the first time in the clubs history.

Today sadly we were punching above our weight.

Anyone who looks at todays CUP game as an indicator of league performance, clearly hasn't done their research!  I can guarantee you that not one team in the CLL Div 1 would have beaten East Preston today and i doubt that many in the Prem would have done so either.  As for the other teams in Div 1, well look at the results. They are all over the place. Staines lost today as did Epsom Athletic, both teams who have been touted as contenders for promotion.

The simple and common sense facts of the matter are that this is the most open Div 1 has been in years. It's anyones at the moment but it comes down to results. Whoever goes up has to get the job done.

For us at Knaphill, with a new side this season, we will just continue to go about our business and do our best.  What will be will be.

Well played East Preston and good luck in the next round. Those lads are going to go far.

I take it your involved at knaphill lisa? as your charged me money to get in I am entitled to my opinion. I watch a lot of comb counties football so I do know what I am looking out for in title winning sides, you are definantly not one, don't want to go into any more because don't want to offend anyone but please be courteous and except my opinion.

Hi 'you plonker'. Yes I'm involved at Knaphill. I'm on the committee and am also club photographer, marketing manager and do the programme :-)

I believe I was more than courteous in my post (which is more than can be said for some) but I do believe you are not giving us a fair crack of the whip in this instance. As I said in my previous post, the injuries to our backline have hit us hard and against a side like East Preston who were incredibly efficient and organised we were always going to struggle. No one can lose the backbone of their defence and not take a beating against a flowing attacking side like East Preston. We really need Timmy Taylor and Jamie Doble to come back and Ian Messenger to be at full fitness again to get back to where we were before.

If you take this game out of the equation and look at our stats for the season so far you will see that we definitely 'are' a winning team. Apart from the two defeats to AFC Croydon and Staines Lammas (where we were particularly poor) we have performed very  well this season so far with some good results and organised play,

Our run in the FA Vase is further than we have ever progressed in the competition in the clubs history and we placed higher in the league than for w long while too. For a team that has a new side this season apart from 2/3 players we can  hold our heads up this season and be proud of what we have achieved so far. I'm not saying we are going to win the league. Im not even saying that we are going to get promoted - that would be foolish.  I would like to think though, that we will do well if we keep our heads in the game and that is what we are trying to do.

Off the pitch we have a committee that is committed and dedicated and working really hard to get the club moving in the right direction. We have a mass of new sponsors, the bar is in place (which is vital to the income of any club as we all know) and the backroom structure is the best it has ever been.

I for one am still excited about what this season might hold for us.  Thanks for the comments though. We always like to know what people think.

Hi

I usually flick through the forum just in general really to see either 1: how the other teams in the league got on or 2: just to hear new news from other clubs, so bear with me.

I have read recently and in the past about comments made about Knaphill and just general things said.

I don't know what people have against the club or what problems they have with the club but if someone could fill me in I would be grateful.

Thanks

To me from a supporters view its some basics mistake from players that are playing at this level for the first time, my personal view is we need one or 2 old ccl heads in the team, but thats my view, but will still be backing the manager 101% every game that Ash play

love your loyalty Gaz but football is about more than that now,you need to have a successfull team to put bums on seats and get the coffers moving it really is wrong to allow a club like Ash to be treated in this shambolic way,

Very true but to get a successful side at this level normally mean paying players & if you haven't got any money to do that then you have to build a team that will want to play for the club & the management team & hopefully that's what we have here right now

Duncs,Football goes in cycles at this level, and I am afraid to say that at this present time, the calibre of player  around the Surrey/Hants area,is not what it used to be.That is main reason why Clubs are struggling in my opinion.

whatever the reasons are this club has been dropping like a stone in recent years and its not the fault of the manager Gareth so don't be so paranoid (maybe you think differently)sometimes people in high places have to ask themselves if they are qualified to make decisions which affect the club,as well as player ability and availibity its also down to the clubs hirachi, its very easy to blame the manager and the players but they and their predeccesors were only put ,in charge by these people,Believe me I only want the club to succeed and am not the enemy but alas I think my card is marked by some people who I wouldn't know if they walked past me in the street and who listen to people who have been damaging this club for years IMO

never blame the manager or managers as they can only work with what they have been given

not many of the old guard left at the club....well apart from one or two i guess & im one of them...so must be in the frame for taking the club down i guess

but at least we won tonight

Haha idiot! You clearly know nothing about football or Knaphill so keep your immature comments to yourself.

so so naieve Gaz of course the manager has to take responsibility for results(its why i've been sacked a couple of times )there is no place in football for sentiment,so many of the local community go and watch other teams as I do,I will not come down there and waste my money all the time its like this, its not your fault mate you are a diamond.
