Spurs Dogging with Wessex Leaguers over Cockerel

I am not sure that is the issue though.  To threaten a small club with the courts is outrageous.

Perhaps a better way would have to been to invite them to a meeting and offer to help pay for the changes that need to take place ?

I also understand that Fleet Spurs have had their current badge a lot longer than Spurs.

Spurs have had the cockerel since 1921. Fleet Spurs were only formed in 1951. I don't know when they got their current badge but it's clear they've copied a trademarked image which you can't do.

Imagaine if it had been the other way around - Fleet Spurs sending a 'cease and desist' to Tottenham for nicking their emblem. People would still be on Fleet Spurs' side. This is just a case of 'have a go at the big boys cos it's fashionable' rather than look into what's actually happening.

I have a lot of time, and indeed sympathy for Fleet Spurs as a football club, especially considering the way they were rejected in their bid to join the CCL but, on this issue, I think Tottenham have been reasonable in their actions and done everything by the book.

I repeat that it isn't that they want the cockerel removed it is the heavy handed way they have done it. I wonder when it was trademarked ?

From the Fleet site

We leave the door ajar for Tottenham Hotspur to be magnanimous in this situation, and show their support to grass roots football.

Good luck with that...a Premier League side being magnanimous, lol.

Even though we, as a club, are suffering at the moment, I'm proud to say we've had our Cockerel far longer than either of the two above mentioned clubs !

Look at VCD's badge and tell me they haven't copied Arsenal's latest version.  I know they both have a cannon on their badge for virtually identical historical reasons but VCD have reshaped the whole shield to make it look like the Arsenal badge. Clubs should be capable of creating their own identity. Fleet Spurs makes them sound like a Sunday side.
