All due respect to the players management and supporters of Barking FC. Nice people and a pleasure to host. Unfortunately caught us on a good day but at 2-0 and a missed penalty (saved) it could have been closer. Best of luck to you for the rest of the season and thanks for graciousness in a difficult defeat. Had a long chat to a few fans thanks for the compliments.

A game of two halves only really describes the score. Thought we were the better side through out the whole game, however Winslow are a decent side, press very well, and scored 4 from 4 chances. But all 4 of their goals were avoidable and as good as the finishes were they could be put down to defensive errors too.

Good spirit and character to come back though, will hopefully take that into Baldock Wednesday night.

The less said about the Winslow manager the better. Embarrassing.

I think everyone always feels goals conceded are avoidable, that's certainly what I heard about ours. We'd have taken a point before the game but criminal to let a lead like that go, but we were as poor in second half as we have been in a while the guys that went and watched said. As for Perry he's vocal and doesn't hold back but I don't blame home every game I've watched this season the reffing in games we have own and lost has been poor. Other teams aren't supposed to like him and believe me I could post about every oppo manager and lots of players behaviour and antics I have come across but we all see it our own way, but there are no arguments with the improvement he has made to the side. Think we may have adopt the Milwall motto. Pleased with a point against Crawley who are always one of the top sides in this div.

One shot on target, one goal. Story of the game today on probably the worst surface iv seen this season. All credit to Hullbridge though, defended well for long periods and when our chances came their goalkeeper got a hand on everything goalbound, felt like it was gonna be one of those days even before arriving what with our coach breaking down and being pulled by the old bill as we limped to the ground.

Hmmmmm I'm not so sure about that. I agree he has really improved things down there, along with Terry, but he is by far the worst at the constant barrage of abuse towards linesman refs and opposition. I totally agree that the refs linos are not great some weeks but with about 4 mins gone he was screaming "you useless c#&t", even at 3nil up the ref was forced to stop the game to warn him again. A stronger ref would've sent him off before 10mins had gone.

Don't get me wrong, Winslow are a good side, can defo see y they are up there.

We all know what his mouth his like but that's him love him or hate him. However seen a lot worse off the ball from teams last couple of seasons and heard pretty awful threats made from some benches. I would say I do think Perry probably does turn refs against us and he himself even says so. I didn't take it as you slating the side or the club I was just making a point, I think he gets a lot of stick some justified but a lot of it not as I have seen and heard lots of the same and worse elsewhere. He's been great for us, he's passionate and has put his heart and soul into the club and everyone at the club is grateful and loves the bloke, even if he does make even a few of us wince from time to time. I'm sure you notice he's good as gold after, always has a chat with opposition after and isn't short with praise for most teams and managers we come up and against cod he is all to aware that for the most part it's a thankless task. He turned down opportunity to speak to a step 3 club to stay with us recently. Probably just have to agree he's marmite.

DIVISION TWO

0-2 Brimsdown v Grendon Rangers

A report on this affair from another Forum:

Brimsdown 0-2 Grendon Rangers

South Midlands League Div 2

Att: 20

Admission: free

Prog: 8 pages

Brimsdown are based at The Downs, which is a separate ground next to the main stadium at Goldsdown Road, currently the home of Enfield 1893. It's fully enclosed, with a single building housing the changing rooms and clubhouse, although the latter looked like it was being prepared for a party. This building is at an angle to the pitch but has a substantial overhang at the front that would provide adequate cover for perhaps 100 spectators and is close enough to the pitch to be usable. The pitch itself was roped on only the near side and dugouts have not progressed beyond the foundation stage. There didn't appear to be any food or drink on offer, but as some spectators had both I guess they must have bought them from the other clubhouse.

Car parking was in short supply as Enfield also had a game and the 2 venues share a single car park. In fact, several spectators wandered into our game and asked if it was Enfield's ground. However, I thought the whole complex looked pretty run down, with the car park area also full of pot holes and plyboard sheets having been laid over several of these on the path leading to the main stadium.

Programmes were handed out by a friendly club official who wouldn't initially even accept any money for it. Anyway, the blurb inside states that the club began life as Kentish Town U18s after the senior club was kicked out of Copthall, and then became Brimsdown in the summer. Both teams today went into the match having lost more games than they'd won and the home team weren't helped by their regular keeper dropping out at a late stage, but I doubt it mattered as Grendon looked quite a tidy team at times and deserved their win.

After Brimsdown I joined the masses at Barnet for a 5.30 kick-off and had no problem finding street parking about a 10 minute walk from the ground.

Saturday 16th November

FA CARLSBERG VASE SECOND ROUND PROPER

2-0 Great Wakering Rovers v Cockfosters

A report from another Forum:

Saturday 16 November 2013 – FA Vase Second Round – Attendance: 165 approx

Great Wakering Rovers (green & white hoops/white/green) 2-0 Cockfosters (red/red/red)

Scorers: Great Wakering Rovers (Trenkel 23, Paterson 82)

Ground: nice ground, good facilities, much better than Stourbridge – Pitch: rough long grass, cut in circles, not a good surface – Weather: pleasant sunny afternoon, sun disappeared at 3.20 and was never seen again

On reflection, the better team probably lost. Nevertheless for all Cockfosters attacking play and there was plenty of it, there was one missing ingredient – the final pass never delivered a goal. Cockfosters missed the simplest of chances after barely 20 seconds and cocked up again just before half-time. However, at the interval they were 1-0 behind, after Great Wakering Rovers turned in a corner-kick. The ball was booted out, but from my position, the ball looked 18 inches over the line – that’s a goal! Cockfosters applied full pressure in the second-half then, against the run of play Great Wakering Rovers took the game with a second goal. For the remaining minutes Cockfosters lost their composure, threw all the toys out of the pram and became more interested in nibbles and afters.

[On route, I stopped for refreshment and Sarah from The Exchange P.H. Southchurch Road, Southend-on-Sea was on top form, serving my needs. She looked up the bus times then, robbed me of £2.50 for a latté. I’m certain Sussexhopper would have forgiven her. Hopefully on Friday week, I will be checking out his ‘bird’ at New Mills.]

That will be a six pointer!

A six pointer in november what planet are you from you complete TW@T.

A good three points for us considering we had to throw our left back in goal, and to make his day he also saved a penalty. We should have scored more but could not find that clinical finish. But happy with what we are doing at present and heading in the right direction. We now have a good blend of youth and experience and as long as we don't suffer to many injuries we should have a better season than last year.
