Player if the month - October 2013

A very good idea Curtis. Would save money on printing too and would capture a larger audience.

Mike lightfoot is the man to talk to but I would welcome it.

In answer to your question mark. There was 63 votes yesterday. All three months have been between 60 and 90 votes.

Congratulations to Guy Hollis.

Just out of interest, has it been considered whether to use the Park Life Newsletter to collate Player of the Month votes..... I believe there are 200+ fans registered for the Newsletter.

The question is though: how many of those 200 regularly come to games and can make an informed vote?

Almost getting to the stage where you don't even need to part with 8 quid to experience a game - follow the tweets, watch the game on Myfc, vote for the player of the month on-line and pick the colour of the kit. Next we will be voting on-line to pick the team so the managers don't need too!

And Chairman wonder why gates are going down.

I have about 5 different email addresses, so should be able to sign up to the Park Life newsletter 5 times. Will I be entitled to 5 votes?

I don't think there's anything fundamentally wrong with the current system, although I do think it could be better publicised when votes are being run. I walked straight past the guys handing out the papers on Saturday, without realising. Only when I saw the box full of cast votes did I realise that a vote was being run.

Maybe forms could be placed inside the matchday programme, as well as being handed out by the gate?

Feel sorry for mark here who does the player of month and would just like to say a big thanks. I did it for a season and it was a more time consuming job than people understand. However, I don't think that people who may not have seen a slough game in their life , or this season, or even that month should be entitled to a vote. Maybe put them in programmes would help get more votes in? But surely a potm based on 60 people actually there I a fairer and more informed way of doing it?

I agree the current system is best. The ones who vote on match days are more likely to have seen games and can make am informed opinion. I did the player of the month last month and those who don't make many games don't tend to take a voting sheet for that reason.

While the programme idea is an interesting one, you also have to consider they not everyone buys a programme.

I'd suggest they Mark puts a thread on here and a message on twitter prior to the game to day when the vote will be.

I'll see if I can design and print a poster that we can put up outside the turnstiles on the voting day, so that people are aware of it before they enter the ground.

Then if people don't vote they have missed the poster outside and the people shouting just inside the entrance.

One further idea is to see if you can have them handed out at the turnstile itself when they pay. Mark and Dan will then just need to ensure the season ticket holders get a sheet

The programme idea's ok if you can find someone to put them in,

( if you can ) I'll have the programme at the club on Sat 12-00ish and Tue 17-00ish .

Myself I am to busy to do it. Mark you'll need between 80 and 120 forms depending on how big the game is.

Rant

As the Trust know's it's hard to find people to help out.

ie I asked someone just at the end of each game to get the corner flags and put the nets up,

The reply was "do I get in for nothing", so thank god for little Alfie who does a blinding job on the corner flags.

I think some people have got the wrong idea about the people who help out match days.

Most of them are season ticket holders or pay on the day.

Rant over

On that note the club are looking for a pre-match announcer, If you fancy it please let me know.

I would be perfectly happy to put an insert into the programme and could make it to the ground at 12:00/12:30 if need be, we could then also have the forms available say in the bar for people to pick up and fill in themselves and then have the box by the club shop which would also have some forms for people.

At the moment I am printing around 100 forms so if we had them in programmes plus the bar and the club shop i estimate 150 needed?

It currently costs me around £15 per month to print them so would need to look into cheaper options if we were to up the printing numbers, Dan suggested printing one and then taking it to a shop but wondered if anybody had any other ideas? Perhaps a new printer :)
