blueblood
Arrived at the Ground last night at 6-30, to a full car park and a pitch in maximum use by 4 teams of kids (3 girls and 1 boys team), we were entertained by some excellent football from these coaching games. Maidstone have a few future gems in that lot. I also saw some good positve coaching. By 7-00 the ground was cleared and the 2 teams were out there doing their warm ups and drills. "Plastic pitches" every non league team should have one. The big suprise of the night was seeing the Gate legend that is "Jay Saunders" on the team sheet. Gate i think were a little touchy to start with Maidstone come with a big reputation and they played some good football with "Jay"(played full 90 mins) spreading the ball to all areas from the middle, Maidstone had the possesion without creating the goal. Margate came into it with a move and a cracking shot from (I believe) Garry Vizzard ,this seemed to give the gate confidence, the lads pressed forward and we were entertained too some flowing football from both sides. "Margates "Rene Armstrong" chased down their keeper who's hurried back pass clearance hit "Rene" and only just squeezed past the keepers right post. Unfortunatly 2 errors, allowed the home team in and the 1/2 ended 2-0. 2nd 1/2 we game out brightly but as the game went on they came to dominate and the game ended 2-0 to the home team. Margate was a much changed side, no "Santos"( injury) and quiet a few under 18's playing they stepped up well. Our new no3 "Sam Beale" (Lewes i heard) looked solid and was good going forward. Well done lads, you did us and yourselves proud. Must comment on the match officials, i thought all 3 were excellent and, it ain't often you can say that. "ps" It was great to see Simon Osbourne at the game, I hope he was impressed with the development of the side since the "Charlton game. PPS, also have to mention their centre 1/2, you would think he was in his mid 20's, didn't miss a ball in the air all night, he's 17. Another "Chris Smalling" ?????? WillU18
The U21's really performed well last night against easily the best team in the league, Maidstone did feature atleast three first team players one of them being Jay Saunders who was excellent to be fair. We had four U18's in the squad and we matched them for the whole night just unlucky we didnt finish the chances we had early on when it was 0-0. The U18's played Charlton, not the U21's Blueblood, but Simon looked impressed with how the young ones matched up against a star filled Maidstone outfit. The future is very bright for the youth at the club at the moment. The Centre defender you mention is Aaron James he is only just 17 and plays for both U18 & U21 and has a massive future also just broke in the Kent County team. Lots of positives to take from the defeat, work in progress.

BlueGate Alan
Looked a good game, impressed with the Maidstone team but our lads battled well too. A good shot of a couple of Margate fans around the 2.50 mark!
