Monkey8
All Wanted opinions on the new style of fixtures this season? Don't want to have a moan up but we (St Margaretsbury) have played Hoddesdon 4 times already this season and by Xmas we would have played Colney Heath 4 times (both due to cup draws). Add in Biggleswade who we have pulled in the division cup and that's them 3 times before the New Year as well. The age old comment of lets look at the table after 10-12 games has gone out of the window! Thoughts?
Munchkin
Personally I prefer having the full fixture list. Happy to accept some anomalies to have the full season available. I'm not sure cups have anything to do with it.

Jonno
A lot of clubs are also perplexed at the long breaks they find their teams facing. Continuity is very important for a team and I would have thought knowing how the British weather has in recent years played havoc with getting all the games played, a team with no fixture for 10-14 days would be a no-no. (For the record, I don't envy the fixture secretary...!!)
Munchkin
Agree with the sentiment it is a thankless task and I don't think everyone will ever be completely happy. The problem at this level is the amount of variables involved, such as groundshares, cricket, planning restrictions, plus the volume of cups across the league and counties. I would imagine and sure Karen will correct me of wrong, the cup draws mess up a few fixtures and when this happens changes are kept to a minimum. Our reserves have no fixtures on the 16th or 23rd, but I know this was caused by our first team being drawn at home in the Anagram Trophy.

Uncle T
For me having the fixtures for the whole season is really good. You can plan your season. My observation is that the fixture list seems front loaded, but this is Karens first season and I guess she will have some thoughts of her own for next season. Also SSML have been pretty good at winning FA Vase games this year which causes some league games to be postponed. What clubs want is to player every Saturday through out the season with cup games midweek if possible.
