Frimley Green 2 v 5 Windsor

The second half performance alone was excellent! having lost Carl Dennison in goal and seen Dan Hicks swathed in bandages due to a bad cut on his arm, things didn't look good as the second half started. However, the guys gave a superb team performance, took the game to FG and completely swamped them with speed, width and determination. The defence protected George Gould in goal, Rob netted an even better volley than his first half one and, despite occasional flashes of neat interpassing from the hosts, they lost their way and their heads as they scrambled to stem the regular  tides of red shirts. The awful pitch didn't help proceedings as the rain came down, but great credit to Windsor for a stirring victory.

I thought it was a pretty scrappy game to be honest, and (cliche alert) never a 5-2 game or performance.

Enjoyable nonetheless!

Lucas and Pearse were very good, and, despite Hicks having a very average game, was inspirational as always, for his bravery and battling qualities. Not sure that the constant instructions from the bench helped him much.

Lazza's 2 goals were worth the admission fee on their own. 2 absolute screamers!

Interesting pre-match banter with Lazza. Having booted one out of the ground into a neighbouring garden, when suggested he might want to go and retrieve said ball, he replied that the club made enough money through not paying the players that he was pretty sure they could afford to buy another ball!

Succinctly put, Rother! Yes, 'scrappy' is very accurate for the game overall, and we did look vulnerable throughout the first half as FG threatened. Lots of chances for both to score, but most were spurned. Lazza's volleyed goals were both excellent, particularly the second one.

Whatever was discussed at halftime certainly worked - despite the change of 'keeper - and we exposed a poor defence every time we attacked. Very impressed with both Lucas (now there's a name I'm delighted to see!) and Pearse for their speed and trickery on the 'wreckcreation' surface.

Pity we conceded another sloppy goal in the 1st half, although no complaints about their second from open play.
