No Promotion from Division 1 ?

Not knowing how the League System works in reality,is there any gaurantee that a Division 1 side can be promoted this Season.

The reason I ask is that Teams from Step 4 who are presently in the Bottom 3 of their respective Leagues at present include: Ashford Town(Middx),Chertsey Town,Chipstead,Corinthian Casuals,Fleet Town,Guildford City.Yes it is early season and things can change, but what would happen if it did not?

Smudge, I don't understand why these teams being in the bottom three of their divisions would prevent a team from Div 1 getting promotion.

At the end of the day if you are in a promotion position and have the facilities for promotion, why should it matter who is coming down from the divisions above.

If you are looking at it from a region perspective then the placement of teams after relegation / promotion is down to the FA and we know that they don't always place teams in the correct region.

A reminder from the FA was sent to the CCL for circulation to its member clubs recently which I assume was also sent to all other Step 5 Leagues reminding them that the possibility of 'Lateral movement' between leagues could happen depending on promotion/relegation issues at the end of the season and that any clubs being considered for possible movement would be notified before the season finishes.  Of the current CCL Premier Division teams I would suspect [on paper at least] that Windsor, Wembley, Croydon and possibly Alton town are amongst those 'Most at risk' because of their geographical location ! If that were to happen because of the number of Step 4 clubs being relegated geographically to the CCL it shouldn't therefore effect any Div.1 promotion places assuming those clubs have the ground-grading in place for the step up.

Lateral movement of clubs is not unheard of. What I don't understand is why the fuss now. The clocks have only just gone back and there is a lot of football yet to be played. Appropriate ground grading for clubs seeking promotion will be an issue for some I would expect.

Do we know which clubs do have the grading to promote from Div 1.

(and yes, I am getting nervous)!

It'll be interesting to see later in the season, Chris !

They may not have the grading any more after the storms of the last 24 hours. I really hope that all the clubs in our part of the world escaped unharmed - the same sentiment applies to everyone connected with the CCL and beyond.

Bearing in mind that the Sussex League is down to 20 again now, I reckon Horley Town and South Park could also find themselves in that equation.

That would then leave us (based at Chipstead) as pretty much the furthest east of the remaining teams. Gulp!
