Slough Town V Marlow

first half we were totally dominated in midfield. the Marlow #10 was running the show and we should have conceded at least 1 or 2

both Harris brothers had a chance before we managed to nick a goal with probably our only other chance just before half time

2nd half midfield got a much better hold of the game and we were in reasonable control. Smith's backheel goal was dissallowed with a late late flag and we seemed to lose focus for a while with Marlow equalising shortly after with a header from a corner.

thankfully we got our act together immediately after and at the 3rd attempt Smith put us back ahead after Grant had done superbly to stop Harris and Wheeler

pretty even after that and we had to battle hard to hang onto the win.

considering we were not totally at our best this should prove to be a massive win against a very competitive Marlow side

Not totally convinced by that performance (we could easily have been 3-0 down within 20 minutes), but 3 points is 3 points.

Think Marlow deserve some respect Nathan, they were a decent side, and caused us problems... But we were tough to break down, and we had to grind out a great 3 points, with the players they have brought in that will come back to be a huge 3 points.

Also last 9 games, 7 wins 1 draw 1 defeat, goals for 25 goals against 9, so I think the lads deserve a bit of praise for the run they are on.

at the end of the day no team is going to play at their best or be allowed to be in every game. its was 1 hell of a battle for us but we came out on top.

2nd half was dreadful conditions as well so has to be expected some sloppy play by both sides.

well done Bakes, Unders and all the boys. fingers crossed we can get good points from the next 3 away games which are all on paper definitely winnable games

I have to say I'm surprised that I've elicited such a reaction!

I was NOT meaning to slag the team off, or downplay the result at all. It is a very good thing that they weren't dwelling on Saturday and have got that result out of their system.

However, that's not the same thing as saying (as I was simply trying to) that tonight we were far from our best, and that a better side than Marlow (yes, I know that you can only beat what's in front of you!) would have been out of sight within 20 minutes. That's completely different.

But as I said, a win's a win, and we can and will play much better that we did tonight.
