Im a big boy Krooner - I can take it !!

Wouldnt call it stick. More like kids and their poor attempt at banter!

It wasn't an attempt at "stick" at all, just a straight question.

I thought players had to have played so many league games before being eligible.

You should chat to VP Ace1. He loves the officials on the Aldershot Senior Cup :)

Ha! Having witnessed an Aldershot & District League Premier Division game at the end of last season I can understand why many teams at that level prefer to play in the Surrey Intermediate Leagues. The standard of officials is better.

There are some people doing a good job at Aldershot FA but they appear to me to be let down by lack of resources. It's strange how Hampshire FA are still split into 'divisions' but I suppose it's always been a bit of a backward county.

Did I mention the season they 'forgot' to put our U18s into their midweek cup? By the time they realised their error it was too late as the competition had started.

Darwin bless Surrey FA and all who sail in her.

It's the Surrey Premier and Intermediate Cups where you have to watch out for player eligibility if it's your reserves in them. They must have played equal or more games for the ressies than the first team to be eligible. Everyone is eligible for the Senior Cup as long as they were signed on in time.

Alright David hope you and Nicky and the girls are all well,I must say you must have a very understanding chairman/committee as I have always known that a manager is judged by results, fair play to you for having the bollix to stick in there but there must come a time when even you must think enough is enough, cove would of sacked you by now lol.

Hi Duncs, hope you're well.

We are currently 3 points off moving up 3 places in the league and only another 5 points off 13th in the league. Its hardly over or unrecoverable. The club have secured over £8000 in Fa prize money this season which is more than the previous years.

Yes it's not the start we would have liked, but we are still in touching distance to teams above us and know that when we are on our game, we can compete in this league, as shown on several occasions.

I'm not at liberty to discuss on a public forum what the chairman thinks and what we have discussed previously.

Yes it is a results business but I'm sure you realise more than most that there is a lot more to football than just results. We did consider taking out a £100'000 loan for wages this season, finishing mid table, and then going bust as many other clubs have done.

Instead, we get by how we can, make sure the club is financially stable, and try our best to retain step 4 status.

I'll let you know when I think the time is to jack it in. Right now, its not the right time.

I'm more committed to Chertsey now than I ever have been. So are the staff, and so are the players.

some very good achievments there mate but its more important for any club to have positive results,if you had been winning matches and got promoted last year who's to say that more sponsors might have come forward and help with some much needed wonga, still thats my personal opinion but i know how difficult it is running clubs at this level and i certainly don't envy you,,good luck for the rest of this season mate.

Just ask Aldershot, Luton Town, Kettering, Hinckley, if positive performances are the most important thing.

Winning league matches does not guarantee sponsors at all. Winning Fa Cup and Fa Trophy matches does!

Now we have to focus on our league form starting Saturday away to Kettering with 650+ spectators watching.

surely every club wants to win every game and so must every manager I can remember playing for Camberley and Cove at Chertsey in front of some very big crowds,I think the fans crave success on the pitch and don't really care about how the books balance, just think if the boot was on the other foot and the Kettering manager was prepairing his players to go to Chertsey knowing there was gonna be a big crowd cheering on thier heroes, its not unreal it could happen if the team started winning the fans are there.

Epsom 1-0 Chertsey Town

An interesting and entertaining game, almost spoiled by an inept referee who missed two blatant corners for us (two great saves), refused to play advantage, and then disallowed a late Chertsey "equaliser" without telling them! Out of his depth, I'm afraid.

I thought we were well worth our win and although we had a couple of scares in the final minutes, I felt we should have been ahead by more by then. The Chertsey keeper was excellent.

We made a few changes and rested Kyle Hough, and I am guessing that Chertsey did something similar, but if that is Chertsey's regular first team then they are in trouble and we will all be welcoming them back to the CCL next season. I hope not though as it's nice not having to go there for a while. Talking of which, where were the Chertsey fans and / or Committee? They used to appear in droves a few years back when they were doing well.

Technically this was a giant killing, but if the top team in Step 5 beats the bottom team in Step Four at home, it is really a shock?

Interesting view. I sat and watched with an ex referee who, rightly or wrongly, expressed radically different views to the ones stated above.

He commented on the Advantage the ref played in the centre circle that led to the move that resulted in the only goal of the game. He then gave his view of the first 'blatent' missed corner in the first half. Shot comes in, flag goes up for offside, ball goes out wide of goal. If ref thinks keeper got a touch he would have to award an indirect free kick for offside surely? He obviously didn't think the keeper touched it, so played advantage, again, and elected to allow the defending team to restart with a goal kick whcih is direct. Apparently the correct decision . We thought he may have communicated this a bit better though. The second 'blatent' corner, in the second half was the finest of touches. Our conversation was that if he had seen a touch, why would he not have given a corner and we thought that he probably didn't have a great view, and was guessing.

The final point, the disallowing of the 'equaliser' in the last few seconds is interesting. We weren't really sure what it was for, but I'm puzzled to understand what more he could have done to signal he had disallowed it? He clearly whistled, something refs rarely do when legitimate goals are scored, pointed in the direction the free kick was going, something they always do and remained in the penalty area even when all of the Chertsey players had gone back into their half. We knew he hadn't allowed the goal.

So to sum up. He did play advantage, possibly missed one, less than blatent, corner and did tell the team who thought they'd scored an equaliser that it was disallowed.

Thought E&E deserved the win but grew a little frustrated at not being able to put the game to bed. Good luck in the next round.
