Craig Minter
I've just been reading Brighton rebel's article poppycock and it got me thinking about young support... I brought 3 friends down with me to Saturdays game and admittedly the first thing they said was "we look really out of place, everyone's so much older" Ignoring the fact that the stadium is a bit of a mare being so far out of the way because hopefully that will be sorted out in some time or another there has to be some ideas we could use to get people through the door. Apologies if any of this has been tried just shooting ideas out there... Is there any coach companies who could help with arranging trips on home game days with local secondary schools, Sunday league football clubs, community projects... could include the return travel in the price of a ticket of something like £10 from set locations and admittedly you'd lose a little bit on each ticket sell but the ticket sales would be increased if it worked. Maybe even one day go door to door with this. Facebook - Linking the twitter account properly with Facebook would be good as they are a little disjointed and social media is pretty key nowadays. The thing that got me re-interested in the club was mainly a pride of where I am from and that the managers do actually converse with the fans... Also love a vocal support which is something we've got. Also I gotta say Horsham Rebel was really nice in the way he took some time to say hello as hobbling around I definitely stuck out like a sore thumb, and the silence was a lovely touch... both community kinda things. Graham C
Now realise who Craig is and indeed walked past him several times on Saturday ! I am one of the oldies(over 30 years supporting Slough) and indeed we have previously heard from visiting supporters that our fan base is older than most in the league --------we are here to stay but do need supplementing by some younger ones although the mob behind the goal are quite youthful as well as vocal Like the ideas but feel that the main issue is the lack of a ground in slough --------I know I am not the only one with this view. Quite a number of us oldies are vowing to live long enough to see that day !
Sue
Ha ha its all light hearted Craig, our Mark 44 is a little sweetie but he often, quite innocently, puts his foot in it. He also has a problem with who is married to who bless him.

Martin
We often talk behind the goal about the missing generation. I am one of a group in our thirties who mostly are originally from Slough and got into supporting the team through friends, family or school initiatives. What we have missed in the last 11 years in exile is getting the 16 year olds hooked who then continue to come back into adulthood. It is something that needs to be addressed and the club in my opinion are taking great steps in building up all the youth teams and getting started on the social media side of things. Ultimately until the club is back in the town closer to main transport links the difficulty is in retaining the support. The interest is there as can be seen from the Mansfield game but SYCOB is such a faff to get to I think a lot of people are put off from returning. readingrebel
We already have a youth set up through all the age range up to under 18's and a Slough academy team. I wonder how many of those youngsters have actually turned up to home games, and if not, what incentives have they and their parents been given to turn up and support their home town team and club that their children actually play for? Tom
Exactly Reading, there are 100+ players aged from U8 to U18 and academy. Those and their parents should be encouraged to come, there would be an instant boost in attendances covering a variety of age ranges as a result filling that void. readingrebel
Say, £5 entrance fee for one/both parents and free for their children who play for Slough youth, additional £1 for any friend/s who they want to bring along. If any of the youth players show an interest in coming to a game but cannot get transport and the numbers stack up, perhaps lay a mini bus on that will pick them up at a pre-arranged pick up point. Slough Kitman
A lot of the parents and kids don't even go in and support Farnham Park club house thou go to Beaconsfield. They turn up in there cars get out, the kids play there games then jump back into there cars and go home.
Andrew
I support the Rebels, and use to go to matches when I could, as I also work as a volunteer at Didcot Railway Centre. I would walk to both Wexham Park, and Windsor, but I have never been to SYCOB, as I feel that the buses in Slough are seriously over priced and very unreliable

Loved this idea. I was thinking that the attendance will obviously shoot up when a ground comes into central Slough, was just thinking of ideas for until then and it all seems to boil down to transport. HEAVY TRUCKER
we know that we have to start support young and normally this is started father to son/daughter, we used to invite schools to home matches, does not initially add to takings at the gate but could give advantages at a later date , got to work for the future.as a thought why don't we put an invite out to the khalsa school, could work on so many different levels
Manor Park Rebel
Have to be careful with what could be construed as hints of ageism. We need to target the pensioner queues at the Post Offices too. To encourage them to come to games I mean, not to hit them with arthritis seeking missiles.
