Basingstoke 0 Billericay 1

A Gary Ansall goal is all what seperated these two teams but that doesn't tell the whole story. Billericay played as more of a team this afternoon then on previous league games, with everyone putting in a supporting performance. In fact, I haven't stopped smiling since I left the game. That is how good this win was.

The first half, we were much the stronger team, altho Basingstoke did pose a threat at times. A shot on our goal that hit the post and rolled along the goal line, did set our hearts aflutter...But a corner for us saw Gary Ansell rise above his marker and head the ball in the net (hands up all those that thought is was going to go over).

The second half saw Basingstoke take more control of the game with the 'Ricay defence standing firm. There were some heart stopping moments and I can safely say, I think I aged in that half but hey...On the brighter side, it wasn't all Basingstoke for that half, we still made a few chances on the counter and one incident had Danny Hockton running through their defence only to be tripped by what we all thought was the last defender. Needless to say, the ref booked the player and not send him off. Again, their keeper was lucky to stay on after what looked liked handling outside the box...Linesman kept his flag down but that was to be expected as he was a whole day behind the play of the game!!!

Overall, a very good performance by the lads. Could they be starting to grow in confiedence? Could they be starting to live up to their pre season potential? Could this be the start of our fight back and league season? I hope so...

Good stuff.

Played some good football, thought Black and Dormer both had good games down the flanks, Ansell scored a good goal, bit worried when he went off with a dislocated shoulder, but apparently he's done it before and should be Ok sooner rather than later. Don't believe how Basingstoke finished with XI on the pitch, 2 clear red card offenses from the defender and the keeper.

The key thing is that having got a great result today, we can't let it slip in the next few games. We'v got to continue to build on this result and try and get an unbeaten run going in the league.

Great result and a big well done to the lads for the last week, I know some of the opposition has been lower league but as ryan said in a previous thread, you can only beat whats put in frount of you. Todays result was a great for us as it keeps up going and closes that gap.

I havent been able to go to the last two games, so who is Black? and have we let Russ Williamson go?
