With attendance is there much press about the team in local papers?

Suppose its a shame the grounds not easiest to get to... Roll on new home whenever that shall be

in fairness their away support pretty much matched near enough every team that comes to play us from our league and they do not have to travel 2 1/2 - 3 hours. they only average 172 at home so how on earth we could have expected a big away support i have no clue

In their defence there was no coach and due to engineering works it was 4 1/2 hours by train so I think fair play to those that could travel

Some good sense from BR.

Very hard, evenly fought game. We IMO were the better team in the first half and Merthyr probably shaded the second.

Game turned with the penalty miss (have to say it was a very poorly taken penalty) if it goes in it's game over but with the penalty miss being so late in the game we had to go gung-ho to avoid a replay and as such got caught on the break.

Well done to Merthyr, now lets get 3 points against an in-form Marlow on Tuesday.

Agree with you and Brighton Rebel that the penalty miss was the result changer but Slough never turned up in the

second half and lacked urgency, composure and intelligence with their formation ie breakaway goal.

We were never going to win the FA Trophy so am not that disappointed.Just a bit embarrassed losing to 9 men.

Thought Darren Wheeler was out of sorts yesterday and was only in the game in spells, so we missed the energy/creativity of Warren Harris big time.

Still think we need another striker who has pace, for an impact sub,as you could see our goal threat slipping away in the second half, with neither Ed Smith or Scott Harris having a particularlygood game.

Especially with Johnny Dyer not seeming fit to play.

Disappointed with the under used subs yesterday. If players are injured, what's the point of them being on the subs bench?

In one off cup games, why not take a risk or two.Steve Bateman was never very good at using his subs but even he had an

alternative upfront,if things weren't going well ie Ben Abbey,Charlie Mpi,Sean Sonner.

Thought Sean Fraser played very well yesterday and Ben Edwards,Dave Woozley and Ollie Burgess should be credited also as being among the better performers on the day, too.

Talking about the best performer, the ref should get the accolade of 'The Clown of the Day' as he was naff and ruined what could have been a good spectacle. How many bookings were there? In a game with hardly any malicious intent.

Thought ref was a joke. Fair play to Merthyr but how in fux name was a striker pretty much unchallenged to go that far and score when they only had 9 on the pitch??!

Still better than a draw!!

As said before, we had all pushed up leaving us wide open to the counter attack.

There is plenty of news on Slough in the Express and Observer.

It is really all down to ground location.

I know it was George's girlfriend's birthday, so maybe the reason why he wasn't at the game.

Hope you are joking-we may play at a moderate level nowadays-but surely the players have to take it seriously-can't be having time off during the season for petty things or in some cases holidays-you are either committed to the cause or you ain't.

Good grief I find myself actually agreeing with Hotspur!  There will always be very good reasons that crop up in a player's personal life that means a game may need to be missed, but....

Just to clear up the George situation, he was away for the weekend, with his girlfriend on a trip to celebrate her birthday, unfortunately we obviously try to make sure everyone is available for games etc, but sometimes we have to accept outside influences.

To be fair to George his attitude is excellent, he lives down in Southampton and never misses a session or game, I think in 3 years he has maybe missed 3 games and a handful of training sessions.

Even when injured and could not really get any treatment as he had a fractured elbow therefore little rehab could be done, he was still at the training ground for every session, even 3 days after the injury he managed to get himself there.

So whilst a little frustrating he was not available, he is a 19 year old kid whose girlfriend booked a weekend away without his knowledge (she looked at the fixtures a while back, where it showed no game on Saturday) obviously if she had asked him he would have told her that would be a game arranged.

And I am afraid it was not George's fault that we lost the game, we shot ourselves in the foot by not scoring the penalty, and then switching off where they thought the game would be won against 9 men.

Exactly the same thing happened to us at Godalming last year, however we were the team that went down to 9 men at Royston, with 15 mins to go, we were 2-1 up and went on to win 3-1, it happens in football sometimes, we just have to learn from it and move on to Marlow.

Ah that's fair, havent lived round there for ages so wasn't sure.. Will keep fingers crossed for the council making a decent decision with this.

I'm just wondering if we are looking for a new penalty taker after Saturday's miss.Thats 3 missed this season(Smith 2 & Wheeler 1).I'm not sure what the agreement is between the players, although my preferred option is Smith as he is still banging the goals in.

No plans to change the penalty taker but we have spoken to Eddie about his miss on Saturday. Obviously can't go in to detail on here about the nature of the conversation as we don't want to give away any info to future opposition but Eddie has been in great form in front of goal and we back him 100% to stick the next one away.

Ed can fall into the trap of being too casual with his shooting even in general play. would still back him to score more often than not though from the spot maybe needs to take more care.

at end of day if the keeper goes the other way we go 2-1 up and almost certainly progress to the next round. dreadfully struck pens that go in because the keeper goes the wrong way are usually called cool and well taken just because its gone in. always confused me that
