Peter Riley RIP

Sad news.  I first met him properly at my first parkrun at Black Park. He seemed familiar and it was only after chatting for a few minutes that we both realised we both attended Slough Town matches.  I always got a friendly "hello" from him whenever I saw him.

Condolences to Glen and family.

Hello everyone, firstly on behalf of myself and my family I'd like to thank every one of you who have written such kind words about my dad, it means so much to us to hear your words. Dad will be sorely missed and it still hurts so much to know I will never see my dad again. Football will be so difficult now knowing this was the one main thing we did together, little things like just standing side by side and having a drink after the game discussing the match. I know so many of you will miss him although probably not his terrible jokes! For those who didn't know him well he was such a caring, kind and generous man and the best dad and husband, probably never told him but just wish I could have said goodbye properly. Love you Dad R.I.P.

Sorry for your loss,Glen. Know what it's like to lose a parent and a pal all rolled up in one.

My deepest sympathy to you and your family.Knew your Dad only by sight but he seemed a warm, friendly character and so,is someone who is going to be missed by many.

Best regards,

Stuart.

Glen, I am gutted to hear your sad news....your Dad was a lovely man who loved his football and supported his club through thick and thin....Whilst I am enjoying my time away from football I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed our frequent post match conversations with you and Peter over a pint where he always gave me his balanced and honest view of the afternoons events, good, bad or indifferent. I totally respected that as he was always willing to come and look me in the eye and ask those difficult questions because he cared about his beloved rebels. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time and I can only hope we gave him some happy memories during the past 4 years that he will take with him. Steve

I have chosen to stay away from the forum since January and will do so again but had to pay a visit to offer my sincere condolences to Pete's family and friends. It is a great honour to consider myself one of those friends.

Pete was, without question, the most caring, kind and warm-hearted guy I've met at football. In fact pretty much anywhere. I had the great fortune of spending time with Pete when he joined us cycling to Hitchin on the opening day a couple of years ago along with my friends, Andy and Claire. It's fair to say that although Pete was an avid and very competent runner there were a few times on the route that he struggled with the pace. We were on expensive road bikes after all and Pete had borrowed an old machine from a friend!

Despite this it was Pete that spent most of the journey checking on our well being and kept apologising for "holding us up". As I said at the time, you weren't, Pete, I don't need any reason to take a breather!

Like everyone I'm deeply saddened by this news and tomorrow will be tough for all concerned. He really was a lovely, lovely man and the world will be a poorer place without him. Rest in peace, Pete.

Another true rebel taken from us too early, my sincere condolences to Glen, his family and all those that shared Peter's company over the years. He was a lovely man, a great supporter and a it was a pleasure to share his company in many a random football club bar. God bless.

I think yesterday showed what a popular, lovely man Pete was, the crematorium was packed solid by family and friends.

Warren did as Mark said give a super speech, it was a wonderful send off for a wonderful man, will miss him so much.
