Peter Riley RIP

It is with great sadness that I post this but I have learned today of the passing of Rebels fan Peter Riley. Peter was a long term fan and often posted jokes on here under the name of PremiershipJoyRider. Many will have met Peter at games and will fondly remember his optimistic happy nature following the Rebels, always enjoying a post and pre game beer with the players and staff.

I'm sure many will also known Peters son Glen who puts together the programme for the club with the two often watching the game together, cheering the side on from the sidelines.

I'm certain I will speak on behalf of many when I wish all of the Riley family my deepest condolences for their sad and sudden loss.

Seconded Gary. Heard with great shock and sadness this news earlier today. My outstanding memory of Pete will always be the ill fated sponsored walk to woodford when, despite the awful conditions and lack of an actual game to look forward to at the end of it, he remained upbeat and motivational for the rest of us. He will be greatly missed by all at Slough and my thoughts go out to glen and the rest of his family.

I saw something about this on Facebook and couldn't quite believe it. According to that post they also lost another member of their family today. Certainly a true Rebel with a great sense of humour which often brightened up this forum and he will be missed. My thoughts go out to Glen and the rest of his family at this difficult time.

Shocked and deeply saddened to hear this news earlier. Pete was a wonderful man, full of good humour, always willing to stop and chat and joining you for a beer pre or post match. I will always fondly remember that walk to Woodford and our chats along the way and his habit of slowing his walking pace so that a few moments later he could come racing passed me in a full on run as the rain teemed down. He managed to get his first blister before we left Slough but that didn't stop his determination to complete the journey.

Deepest condolences to Glen and his whole family. RIP Peter, you will be sorely missed.

Absolutely gutted. Pete was a top bloke who I'd got to know quite well over the last few seasons going up to Black Park for the 5k before the match on a Saturday. He was a very fit and active guy so I'm in total shock...was just having a couple of pints with him before the game on Saturday. Condolences to Glenn and his family...terrible news. RIP

Was really saddened to hear this news today.

My memory of that awful Woodford walk will be the three of us standing outside the guest house, worrying that we had somehow lost Pete along the way.  Only to discover he was already in there in the warm and dry having run on ahead.

He was a lovely man and will be greatly missed.  Thoughts are with Glen, Margeret and the rest of the family.

I was shocked when I heard the news today, he was a really great guy who always wanted to know how we were, and was loved by everyone that knew him.

My thoughts and condolences go out to Glen, Margaret and the rest of the family on their loss

He will be greatly missed by all

RIP Pete

Still trying to get our heads round this sad news.

Our hearts go our to Glen, his lovely mum Margaret and all his family on the loss of such a wonderful Husband, Dad and Grandfather.

Peter was a lovely person, so funny, and his jokes were legendary. Also he was the only person who actually let me believe I was a Cheryl Cole look a like, we will miss him so much.

Rest in peace Rebel Pete.

Sue and Aidan.

Always a sad day when a Rebel passes away, especially one as well thought of as Pete. I didn't know him personally but I am sure that I've probably seen him at games, and I do remember some pretty poor jokes on here!

Condolences to his family and friends. RIP Pete.

Knew of him by reputation only, but shocked by the news.  Thoughts are with Glen and the rest of the family.
