What do they all do ...... ?

Have noticed an ever increasing number of people at home games wearing "official" Margate fc name badges / passes. I know it takes a lot to keep a club running and without a lot of peoples help that would not be possible. However the number seems high for a small club.

I'm assuming they all pay to get in ?!. After all the club needs all the money it can get, as im sure they all realise.

Well my step son who is 17 has volunteered to help out on all match days. He does not pay to get in but offers 1 and half hours free at every home game. He helps out on the 50/50 draw which brings in money to the club. As a side line to this he often goes to away matches which he pays for to support the team. (such as coach travel with helps towards the cost) He has been diagnosed with Autism, and the few years he has spent at MFC has developed his social skills immensely. An activity which I will always be grateful to MFC for. To answer your question the unsung heroes who are the volunteers, some are at the club every day not just match days do keep the club going. Offering services & supporting all other activities bringing in money to the club, not just match days. Without these volunteers MFC would not be.

And how do you think the food gets cooked for the sponsors lounge, who do you think sets up the sponsors lounge and clears up afterwards. Who do you think would be on the turnstiles, who do you think sells programmes, 50/50 and other fund raising activities. Who does the food for the players. and directors hospitality who cleans up at the end. Per haps you need to spend one match day with these people, by the way some of them start on Saturday match day, just after you're still eating your breakfast.

So you think people like Les Manning should be paying, A guy who will do anything and everything for the club, always selling 50/50 tickets to get the club money, or like yesterday being seconded to help the stewards out. And who spend all the game retrieving footballs from all over Harstdown and Tivoli Park, one of the many volunteers who will be at the game before others and one of the last to leave when we're all at home listening to results.

In fact i agree with you, what we should do is pay for people to cover these activities, from my rough calculations

10 volunteer who were getting in for nothing should pay so that will be 8 x £ 7 = £56 + 2 x £10 = £20  brings in another £76 each home game.. to cover this assume we can get the right people who won't let MFC down lets pay £7 an hour (NI & Tax?) 4 hours each match day x 7 people = £196.00 + 3 x people who probably need to be there 6 hours per game = £126.00  total £322.00p cost but it will bring in £76.00, so the deficit of £246 can be covered by the Club eazy peazee. This running a Club lark is a piece of cake.

If made the teams pay that'd be an additional £300, assuming 22 starters and a small bench as of recent weeks. Could reach £350 with a full strength team. Is the club missing a trick here?

This has been mentioned at meetings. The club is aware that some teams push the limits a bit with their entourage - I was going to be assistant kit man at one away game and was informed that the host club allowed one kit man and one physio per team and that's it.

Just to clarify the pass situation all staff and volunteers are asked to wear their passes so that they can be identified as staff of the club in case a supporter either home or away needs assistance with any situation, always needed in a time of emergency.

The Club also issues passes to all people attending the Directors Lounge so that they can gain access in and out of the Lounge easily and the club can make sure that the correct people are in the lounge - this can be up to 20 people on some matches if including home and away directors, managers etc . Secondly the Match Day sponsors are also issued with a passes so that the stewards know that these people have access to the sponsors lounge, once again that can be normally 10 passes a match.

On top of that you have the paid staff of the Club, which also have passes - Maybe you would like to approach the Groundsman, Adminstrator etc and ask them to pay entry to work that day.

Then there is the amazing team of volunteers who not only give away their free time on a match day, but are always found around the ground doing much needed job such as painting, repair works, paperwork, organising fundraising events, cleaning, cooking food, running burgers bars etc - all which saves us much more than £10 entry to a match. Most of these volunteers also put quite a bit of their own money into the Club by donating raffle prizes, grand draw prizes, sponsoring players  - do I need to keep going.

Always Gate - If you are happy to volunteer on a match day and pay entry to the match, I am sure your offer of work will never be refused. Please feel free to make yourself known at the next home match to either a MISA member or a Member of staff and we will find a job that needs to be done.

As one of the people who you think should pay the £10 to start the match day at 10 am and maybe get home at 7 pm and that's only if the club is not in use after a game

Please come and make yourself know to any MISA MEMBER and we would be more than happy for any assistance you can give on match days or Sundays at 6 am to do boot fairs

Also I know this goes without saying but

THANKS MARK
