Hornchurch took command from the outset, and opened the scoring after nine minutes when Leigh Bremner made the running, before placing the ball in front of STEFAN PAYNE, who ran forward and neatly glided the ball into the net. Two minutes later and STEFAN PAYNE put Hornchurch further ahead with a hard drive after the Wealdstone defence failed to clear a Joey May corner. Any hopes Wealdstone had of a comeback were made much more difficult when they lost their captain, Sean Cronin, who appeared to aim a kick at Bremner. A minute later Carl Rook just failed to reach an inviting cross from Michael Spencer, whilst at the other end Elliot Styles headed a hopeful centre back to Inigo Echepare, who had been very much of a spectator. Wealdstone were handed a gift opportunity when Styles passed the ball back to Echepare, who mistimed his kick and sent the ball directly to Scott McGleish, but he hurriedly placed his shot several yards wide of an open goal. Hornchurch came back strongly and Payne hit a shot high over the bar from a May corner. Echepare was called into action soon afterwards with an excellent diving save to keep out a hard drive from Jey Siva, and Styles headed away a centre from Tom Pett, before Hornchurch almost scored a fourth when Tambeson Eyong raced past defenders, moved inside, but hit his shot into the side netting. Twenty two seconds into the second half and STEFAN PAYNE was brought down by James Hammond, and then completed his hat trick with a well-struck penalty. Jonathan North saved well from Payne, turning his shot out for a corner, and, in what was a rare Wealdstone sortie into the Hornchurch half, Echepare made an excellent save from McGleish. Payne then took up the running inside his own half, and raced clear of the chasing defenders, before North came out to save well. The fourth goal soon followed, when JOEY MAY gathered in midfield and fired in a hard shot that took a deflection en route to the back of the net. Payne had another chance to increase his tally when he homed in on goal, but North again saved well. Payne then shot wide from a good cross from Rook, who shortly afterwards was replaced by George Purcell. Payne was giving the visiting defence a hard time and he completely opened up the left side to place the ball back to Frankie Curley, whose shot went narrowly wide of the goal. GEORGE PURCELL made it five nil when he rounded North to clot home following good work by Bremner on the left. Sam Lechmere replaced May, and Bremner almost added another, but was denied by a fine save from North. Chris Bourne came on for Payne, who was named Player of the Match, and, after shots by Bourne and Lechmere had skimmed the post, it was CHRIS BOURNE who headed in the sixth goal from a well-flighted Purcell centre. In the final minutes Wealdstone tried hard for a consolation goal, and, after Styles cleared off the line from Glen Little, JEROME OKIMO headed in a cross from the right.
