Enfield Town y Billericay Town

May as well start this. How will we get on tomorrow?

A 0-0 draw would suit me, although realistically both sides will score.

Will we make changes, specifically moving Kirby back into defence and dropping Wild? I'm hoping Ewang might be back in contention, him alongside Lee Allen should give us a bit of steel in the middle. Add in Olondo and Corey out wide for some creativity. Corey is also putting in tremendous effort tracking back so no issues on that front. Up front Gunz and a hopefully fully fit Liam Hope. Tyler can make an impact off the bench. I wonder if Elmes is fit?

I'm going to purchase TWO Golden Goal tickets and I pray to God that one of them is in the opening 15 minutes - not 77 minutes and 85 as per my last visit.

I swear there's a lucky bag with all the good goal times for home fans and officials - and another bag with the crap for visitors.

Don't get me started on the farce that's the 50/50 Draw.

My confidence in the team and management was in need of a bit of a top-up before today’s game and that’s what I got today. We played pretty decently at times and, relative to some recent performances, extremely well. There was more obvious desire today and, if we were on a good run, the confidence that that brings would have resulted in more goals. As it is, we’re on a winless streak, so confidence isn’t at its highest and we didn’t get the rub of the green at times.

Certainly people I spoke to during and after the game thought that we should have got a point at the very least. You wouldn’t normally expect to have to sub two players in the first half due to injury and a third right at the beginning of the second. Liam almost scored another great free kick (if only the foul had been a foot or two further away from goal) and it looked as though Adam should have had a penalty (it will be interesting to see any video footage of that). But….that’s life. The important thing is that there was a reaction from the players today. Realistically, it’s unlikely we’ll get anything from our next two matches, so we’ll probably slip into the relegation zone, but the three matches after that look more winnable. I just hope this re-found desire won’t have evaporated by then.

COYT!

The Chips are down at the moment and we are on a winless streak, but thats football. We also have an ever increasing injury list and suspensions coming up. Plus we are having no luck what so ever with shots which hit the crossbar and poor refeering decisions as with the penalty given against us and the unneccessary sending off of Joe Stevens.

Looks like some supporters will get what they have wished for with the door potentially opening to U21 players to play some upcoming first team games.

Here are the highlights including the penalty decision from 4mins 18secs. It looks like a superbly times tackle with a slight bit of contact made just after. A proper harsh decision in my book especially as referee didn't give it at first and relied on the linesman. The red card only made it worse!!!

Behind-The-Goal - the incident involving Gunz was no way a penalty kick as you'll see.

Time to be a playful Devil's Advocate I think....

If you look at the footage of the penalty incident again, you will notice Joe raise his foot slightly after making the tackle, and that was what brought his opponent down.  Was that what the referee's assistant saw and flagged for?  Still think a penalty and red card was very harsh though (although one logically followed the other).

Apart from that one contentious decision (which wasn't actually his), I thought referee Mr Dalton was excellent.

As soon as their guy went down I looked at the assistant who put his flag across his chest for the penalty. No point in people commenting on the referee's decision because they acted as a team. That's what the three guys in black are there for. Too many people moan when the assistant doesn't flag, but then moan when he does. You only have to see this in European games with the extra official behind the goal holding a stick. Does anyone know what they do?

I also thought the referee was very good.

I'm not a referee basher at all. I thought he was good yesterday.....such a hard decision to make in a split second.... my first thought was penalty... but looking at replay I think it wasn't. Or could it have been re FJ's comments.

When Wildy put in a late challenge and the ball went on in play all you heard was 'calm down I'm coming back to it' when Ricay's players were complaining. Good reffing.

Just seen the penalty for the first time..Looked very harsh to me.Stevens wins the ball cleanly and diverts its course.Everyone (even the linesman) must have seen that.! So I presume the linesman has flagged for a penalty for the second contact,.Looking at the video it seems that the forwards foot gets tangled between Joe's legs (and that Joe's leg only raises after the contact, rather than the raising of the leg causing the forward to fall). 8 out of 10 times it wouldn't have been given.

I can't believe the some of the doubt about the Penalty incidents.

I did'nt think it was a penalty at the time as it looked like a fair genuine tackle along the ground and going with the direct of play and thanks to Cold Ends clip it showed better than that it showed it a good tackle, certainly not a foul or penalty.

The challenge on Adam Wallace shows he actually went through Adam and i'm not sure if the ball was even touched directly or from going through Adam but a clear foul therefore a penalty.

The referee had an ok game, but made game changing decisions from incompetence and poor support from his 'team members' they should be relegated to youth football for development and Steve will be in his rights to feel agrieved from the days events.
