Saturday 5th October Fixtures

Wembley 1-2 Windsor

I really enjoyed the game, in part due to the pitch, in part the spirit in which the game was played but mainly the quality of football. I though both teams tried to keep the ball on the ground and carve out chances through passing rather than the big hoof upfield.

What a pleasure to report that, despite the usual tough challenges going in, I can't recall a single shout of "Ref, Ref, Ref" as seems to be the norm for games these days.

But what a shame to report a crowd of no more than 70 I'd have thought, probably half of that number being from Windsor, on a decent Saturday afternoon - despite the pitch, the decent team they have, the massive publicity of a couple of years ago and the impressive improvements made to the ground and facilities as a result of the Budweiser money, still no bugger will turn up and watch them beyond the loyal hardcore.

Re Chubbys provocative groundbaiting post, I agree its a crazy and embarrassing situation but I cant see why Dorking FC belongs  in Intermediate football. It has one of the few town centre grounds left,  and from a current lowly position has the potential and desire to improve.

A problem with the goals was highlighted, and the club has remedied it as quickly as possible.

The league acted responsibly and fairly, were helpful with fixtures and Im sure have followed their rules.

Wishing one of the CCL clubs points deduction and  relegation on a CCL forum is a little out of order Chubby.

Of course, it's not just the league but the other clubs in this league who nearly always help each other out when they can.

There have been numerous cases where games have been switched at short notice for various reasons and the other club have been happy to oblige. An example from last season was when Camberley's floodlights were out of action for a week and Ash were happy to switch the scheduled midweek game to their home game at short notice. They could have insisted it remained as Camberley's home game with Camberley having to pay Ash a hire fee or face a fine for not being able to fulfill the fixture at Krooner but they didn't.

Epsom 3 v 4 Badshot Lea

A great advert for Non League football and well worth the entry fee for any neutral.

We had a good 20 minute spell in the first half but just couldn't find the net. Luke Whiddett then obliged with a finish from close in.

HT Epsom 0 v 1 Badshot Lea

A Liam Roberts free kick was swung in and Ryan Scott got the slightest touch on it to make it 2-0. Epsom then slowly got into the game and soon reduced the deficit with a fantastic effort. Then Darren Blake was on hand to follow up from an earlier shot 3-1.

Epsom then scored again 3-2. They pegged us back and put us under pressure but we scored again through Luke Whiddett 4-2. There was still time for the ref to give a soft looking penalty at the end. FT Epsom 3 v 4 Badshot Lea

We have now completed our nightmare run of 4 fixtures, Windsor (H), Hanworth (A), South Park (H) & Epsom (A). We are pleased to get 7 points from those.

Most pleasing thing yesterday, other than the three points, was to see Tony Jeffcoate in attendance and dishing out his normal banter to me. A true gent and good to see he is on the way to recovery..

AFC Wimbledon (H) Tuesday night 7.30pm

difficult to tell in just one 90 minute game but if I had to stick my neck out, I would go for either Hanworth or South Park for the title.

Probably just put the curse on them both now.

MV 2-1 Farnham Town

Not the greatest first half, but at 51 minutes one of the longest i have seen (two injuries, plus the rather bizarre request to remove a rabbits foot from the pitch - not sure where the rest of the rabbit was, but seeing what the fox had left behind, i could hazard a guess).

A couple of chances at either end but neither goalkeeper really worked (we gave only a third start between the sticks in two years for our reserve team keeper) to make a save - would say that Farnham had the better of the half, but we defended pretty well.

Second half saw Farnham start brightly, but the introduction of Danny Fernandez on the hour changed the game in our favour. Thought we were just getting on top when they took the lead, with a neat Craig Smith finish, after good play on the right, but we responded really well, and were level with 5 minutes, through Marvin Roberts.

A goal just over 10 minutes from time by Lauris Chin gave us the win, but we did need a great defensive clearance late on to preserve it.

Impressed with the Farnham keeper, looked a decent player, and a cracking lad, fair amount of good natured banter as i was snapping away.

I think Wembley FC is a great little club and if i wasn't involved with Hanwell Town FC i would go and watch them play more than i do. Nice Ground, Pitch, Clubhouse and Programe its just a shame the ground is in a crap area of London which is what i am told by some of our regular ground hoppers puts them of going to watch Wembley matches. But like many other good non-league football clubs in the London area home attendances get lower each season.

I fancy the villains!!!

Maybe so Redrup but is their ground facilities enough to be promoted to Level 4 ?

Also knowing a bit about them, I do wonder if Hanworth Villa would apply to be promoted to higher level ?

Interesting topic.....perhaps  someone from Hanworth would ley us know.  Did they apply for promotion last season ?
