OldTowner
Hanworth Villa ( Step 5 ie Essex Senior League level ) 2 v Town 2 with a last min equalizer by Gunz. Hanworth WIN 4-3 on pens. Hanworth scored their 4 pens - Town scored 3 Missed 2. IMO Hanworth worthy winners over the 90 mins, which surely has to be a worry. Plus point - Great goal by Olando. He looks class and just needs to get fit. Very disappointing crowd, but full price must have put off many supporters especially with footy on the box. Bad move. MTHead
How long can this be allowed to go on. Tonight was embarrassing with the defence all over the place, a midfield who couldn't pass the ball to a player in blue and an attack that didn't worry a team that plays two levels below us. A disgraceful performance, something has to be done soon. We will not survive in the league with a team that performs like this week in and week out. There is no progress being made and most of the crowd around me tonight were so disappointed with the performance against a lower league side. It is clear that something significant needs to change and soon.
Smudge
Maybe you were outplayed by the better Team on the night,Hanworth Villa are a Decent Combined Counties Side,we are very proud of their performance tonight.
OldTowner
Smudge, There is no doubt that your Team fully deserved to win on the night. No question and very well done. However, the issues that some raise on the forum ( as MTHead ) are deeper than this one result. Good luck for the rest of the season.

MbrunoB
I was always told that if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything. Here is my view on the game.
andyetfc
What was the starting lineup for ETFC last night? Poor. As was the finishing one. Started well with a great goal after the ball was played on the deck. What did we do after that? Chuck high balls, route one, to our forward line who invariably came out second best. We played the ball to our left winger who terrorised their full back, but there was no support. We were the taller side, yet lost out on aerial challenges. Passing was woeful and for the majority of the game we looked like the team from the lower division. Well played Hamworth Villa and good luck in the next round. It was stated earlier that it was a disappointing crowd. I felt that it was a disappointed one. ETFC. Somethings have to change.
CD Towner
I decided to take in the match on the far side of the ground last night for a change and all I can say is I spent most of the night staring across at the clubhouse thinking why aren't I in the bar watching the Champions League (usually a good reason why crouds are down, along with it not being a season ticketed match).Last night was quite simply embarrassing. HV deserve the credit for their deserved victory but was it a great surprise that they came and got men behind the ball, challenged us to break them down and hoped to hit us on the counter? Did we have an answer - no we didnt? The more worrying thing about this result compared to Saturday's defeat was that this was a much stronger 11 than was fielded on Saturday. Realistically the only changes to make us a full strength side from last night would be Imber in goal (though Chalk was blameless last night anyway), Allen/Ewang in midfield and Hope up front. Granted there are a couple of new signings who may feature in what would be our full strength 11 - McCluskey, Elmes but this remains to be established. On the plus side, it was good to see 1 or 2 youngsters introduced from the bench but we know they aren't ready (or proven to be good enough yet) to make a real impact on our season regularly - Osei is proving that as a young player who needs patience and to 'bide his time' with 1st team opportunities. The fact remains, another embarrassing result (irrespective of the priority of the competition), and an even more embarrassing performance. I'm sure the management will have an excuse or two though - it would be nice to hear from them a little more as opposed to a programme note once every 2/3 weeks. Insure
This is my first post and not one that I enjoy writing, but as a relatively new Enfield Town supporter & having watched a few games recently, I'd like to add my opinions. And that's all they are. Opinions. So here goes! Reading through the forum, it comes very apparent that there's a lot of negativity on here. I know everyone, especially fans of the club can have their say, and have every right to, especially as without the hardcore fans, there wouldn't even be a club. But there's a lot more noise when the team loses rather than when the team wins? The team is going through a bad spell at the moment and even though we've all got our ideas as to what should be done to improve, surely getting behind the team when the chips are down is far more worthwhile? This is when the team really needs it's supporters. The club is now at a level of football where practically every team we play against will be half decent. It's not easy. In no way am I saying we should all now just applaud the team no matter what and accept just staying up & being mediocre. But the club has come a long way in the last few years. And maybe with the success we've had we have lost our heads a little and our expectations are a bit too high. Easily done after a promotion. I'm all for us supporters giving a player a light hearted kick up the backside if they're not pulling their weight on match day, but we have a set of good honest players a far as I can tell and I very much doubt that they purposely go out and play badly. Sometimes the level just catches up with you. We've had a season to adjust to this level now. And there is no need to panic just yet. A couple of wins on the trot we'll all think we are going to win the league!!!! I just think that us supporters have a big role to play so it's important that we try and stay as positive as we can, no matter how hard that is. Anyway, that's my two pennies worth. I'm sure someone will shot me down in one sentence!!
The Crowing Cockerel
I'm all for us supporters giving a player a light hearted kick up the backside if they're not pulling their weight on match day, but we have a set of good honest players a far as I can tell and I very much doubt that they purposely go out and play badly. Sometimes the level just catches up with you. Tweet by Steve Newing after last night's defeat: "Lack of ability can be tolerated, lack of desire, work rate, commitment, will to win cannot. Best I leave it at that and try to get to sleep" So, it looks as if the manager himself doubts we have "a set of good honest players". Remind me: who picks the players...? MTHead
Interesting from insure, but this has been going on since this time last year. I agree that the club has made extraordinary progress since it's inception. However we all knew that it would be difficult last year, and it was. In general it was clear last year that the quality of player at the club needed to be improved, it wasn't and we suffered ( only survived by courtesy of Scott Mcgliesh). Performances last year were generally very poor. We all know we just survived. The manager this year has suggested that this years squad is better and stronger, it clearly isn't. Defensively inept. Lack of grit and invention in midfield leading to isolated forwards who cannot hold onto the ball to bring into play the supporting players. We revert to long high balls, to players without the physical presence to benefit, and the opposition then puts us under pressure ageing leading us to pump the ball upfield again !!!!! Where is plan B ? I have lost count of the number of passes made by defenders and midfield given strait to the opposition. In summary this has been coming for over twelve months, there is very little sign of improvement and I am sorry to say the I am losing motivation to go to away games to witness another poor display. Things must change, players, tactics, management if not I fear we are looking at relegation. Perhaps we have reached a level too far?
The Crowing Cockerel
Perhaps we have reached a level too far? We have reached a level too far for the players we currently have in the squad. The likes of Hope, Campbell, Wallace, Kirby and Whitely are perhaps the only players we have who can hold their own at this level. Other than those players, we are a decent Ryman North side. So, the question must be: (1) Has the current manager recognised that the current playing staff isn't strong enough? (2) If so, does he have the ability to attract/find better players? The Manager was able to bring Scott McGleish in for a short period last year and he did the business. Can the manager bring in players of a similar calibre? 1F in Enfield
I don't know the answer to these OT but let's hope so! Let's end the negativity, let's get behind the team, let's win on Saturday and let's put an end to this unacceptable form!
