What is the population of Slough roughly 150,000-and a few questions discussed on here about a now defunct old ground by maybe 20 people is going to persuade councillors and government officials in their decision making-I THINK NOT !!

I have often wondered if the Soviet Union had really disappeared completely. Seems like there are still vestiges of it alive and kicking in the leafy lanes around South Bucks (and this forum).

I can't believe the comments I have seen on this post. I think it is pathetic that the original post was locked.  All Cedric did was merely ask a question about what is happening to Wexham Park's roof as he drove past. What has this forum come to when we can't even talk about WP. So what if people talk about WP, is it not part of our history? Or do we just forget it? And just how can it affect our proposed new stadium? Do you really think that a question about the present state of our old ground and a couple of replies on it on an unofficial forum would really affect the council and government's decision? How can that be the case, I wasn't aware that WP was blocked off from public view, everyone can see it as they drive past or use the car park or go to the Sunday bootfare. So doesn't that mean that any of these people could come away with the view that 'oh what do they need a new ground for, theres one there having work done on it'? What's next, we can't talk about Stag Meadow anymore just in case that affects our chances of a new ground? It's just ridiculous.

 

We should be perfectly entitled to talk about our old ground, we have the freedom of speech. It is part of our heritage we had some good times there we should be allowed to talk about it on here, there is nothing slagging off the club in any way. And I can not see how a question on an unofficial forum should provoke such attitudes and end up being locked.

 

This forum should be open and allow fans the freedom to talk about all things connected with our present and our past, and we should not be denied the opportunity to post things on here in fear of what may or may not be harmful or upset people. Otherwise what is the point of this forum if you are only allowed to say certain types of things or else your posts get locked. What's next you end up being blocked?. It is pathetic.

 

If Cedric wants to know what is happening with Wexham Park's roof, he probably would be better advised to contact the owners directly. It is after all their ground, and has played no part in our club's history since 2003. What is happening to the ground in 2013 is of no interest to Slough Town Football Club, and I can't really understand why it would be to any its supporters. Our present is renting Holloways Park. I sincerely hope our future is at Arbour Park. 

 

As for the rest of your ramble, if your sense of moral outrage is that easily provoked, this forum probably isn't going to help your sensitivity I'm afraid, given the tendency for tempers to flare, often between those who borderline abuse free speech and those who'd prefer a more stringent form of moderation on this site.

 

Anyway, I'm off to have a secretive meeting with my fellow comrads about how we can suppress this forum, its forumites and push our left-wing agenda for Wexham Park denial. Wearing this

How sh1t has this forum become, it used to be worth reading, now it is just people snipping at each other and big brother dictating what subjects should be discussed, along with the hidden agendas of some of the newer posters, and a lack of accountability of those hiding behind alias's.

Hello BFR thanks for the reply,  I'm liking the t-shirts by the way  . I always read the forum and felt the need to post and have a ramble merely because I do not like the fact that it seems to be the case that every time I come on this forum, people seemed to be getting shot down for the comments they write. I merely wanted to point out that you should be able to post a question or comment on this form without being told by other people that you can't say this or you can't say that, it should be the right of every Slough fan to talk about the club whether its about its past, present or future. I don't think anyone on here should have the right to lock something or shoot someone down because they don't like it and personally feel it may be detrimental to our proposed stadium venture. Also, it should not be up to a couple of people to say I don't think anyone is interested in WP, therefore it is NOT allowed to be spoken about, if some fans want to talk about it or ask a question then so be it that is what a forum is.

 

For the record, I too sincerely hope our future is at Arbour Park

Firstly let me apologise if I upset anyone before I start.Having moved to cornwall by the time all the shit happened at wexham park I don't really know everything that happened.Anyway a lot of people have said slough would never return to WP but what would happen say if the council bought WP or a benefactor and then handed the ground back to slough town.Would they not go back? also a previous poster said that if you wanted to find out about WP go and see for yourself.I did that drove the 300 miles to do this and then could not get in the place so is it so bad to ask a local ??

Were all adults and im pretty sure most of us know who each other is so why can't we just all get along and have discussions without taking pops at one another and making out people have hidden agendas, I have no hidden agenda and I am 100% behind the clubs plans for arbour vale but I don't think talking about wp should be frowned upon. Yes the club is working hard to push the arbour vale site and fingers crossed it happens but we are fans and are entitled to talk about stuff related to slough town fc from the past and the now so Why the hostile atmosphere ? Were all supporting the same team and want the same don't we progress and stability. If we can't discuss certain topics it's not really a forum it's seems like we're walking on egg shell on the forum lately where has this all come from?

You see here is the problem. On the one hand moaning about big brother choosing what is allowed on the forum, and then saying it needs clearing up. Can't have it both ways.

 

If hotspur is not your cup of tea, and clearly isn't for a lot if posters, the option to ignore their posts is your best bet.

 

Given the outcry at locking of a post, I dread to think of the reaction that would come from banning a user.

Having read all the posts on this thread,I thought I'd like to address a few of the points raised.Clearly there has been some very valid points made from both sides of the debate [except for the inane trivial tit for tat spats Hotspur for most part causes]. 

 

It wasn't the moderators decision to lock the original post,that request came from our present chairman,Steve Easterbrook,I am led to believe.

 

The majority of fans are not party to what is going on in discussions about Arbour Vale and are somewhat in the dark about how the negotiations are going.  

Wexham Park is obviously a touchy/sensitive subject,to those pro the Arbour Vale site, given that many anti-Arbour Vale people will use Wexham Park as a lever,to put a spanner in the works of our new stadium.

 

Fans who truly have Slough Town FC best interests at heart need to be aware of this.

 

Nothing is wrong with discussing Wexham Park but is now a good time! No,I don't believe it is.

 

I'm sure the original poster,Cornish Rebel,was completely earnest in asking for info on WP,as I was when I posted my reply but now I wish I hadn't posted,as I don't want to give ammunition to the anti Arbour Vale contingent. 

 

It is entirely up to the individual if you want to carry on with this Wexham Park discussion.However,I think the true supporter of the club will cease with comments on this thread,now knowing the full facts.

Just watched the Arbour vale video for the first time in a few months. Has reminded me how good the project looks again. As a whole it will definitely be an area that Slough can be proud of. Housing, facilities, local clubs and communities

A lot of Slough fans backed Windsor FC when you lot had your club's troubles[myself included] but it doesn't seem that you're reciprocating.
