Enfield Town v AFC Hornchurch

Chase Side Towner

Ok, I accept that goalies are often on a hiding to nothing, but Imber is not exactly showering himself in glory at the moment. He's dodgy on crosses - which has not escaped the attention of opposition sides, and unfortunately today he decided to gift Hornchurch their first goal. The only reason I can think of for him not catching the ball is that perhaps he was momentarily blinded by the part-time floodlights. Anyway, at 1-0 down we were always struggling against a better organised Hornchurch side who wanted it that bit more. Yes, we played well in brief patches - and were completely elusive during the second half flood-light failure, but we still lack the quality and tactical nous to do any more than scrape by in the Ryman Premier.

Can we give Chalk a go in goal?

SN's twitter feed today:

"Why do people start to panic and look at league tables after 11 games, got another 12 games and teams to play till we reach half way"

"We have played 5 of the title/play off favourites, time to judge is when we have played all teams in the league"

"We have picked up points from over half the games we have played. If we keep on doing that then we will be just fine"

With no league win in September and Bognor, Billericay, Lewes & Maidstone to play in October all of whom are doing well (possibly except ricay) it is difficult to see where the next league win will come from! Looking further into November we then face Wingate, Harrow, Hampton & Leiston and as it currently stands the teams in and around us that we MUST take points off. If the worst case is that we go 2 months without a league win confidence will not be high going into these games.

I'm sure Steve will see the games in October as a tough challenge but if we can muster a win against one of the better sides it will give the boys a springboard to go on and beat the teams around us!

For what its worth,I thought you was one of the better sides we had faced, you had plenty of the ball first half and I always felt we needed the cushion of a second.Theres no doubt we are a better side away from home at the moment but I thought you caused us enough problems first half to see that you will be fine this season
