Slough Town v Ashford Town - 24th Sept 7.45pm

Firstly agree warren Harris was superb today. Also agree with the whole team talk thing and belittling other teams...I wouldn't suggest any teams would be easy wins in this league on here for the reasons stated by guy and Neil. Yes I expected us to beat ashford and we did it quite well today (although we so seem very vulnerable immediately after scoring) thought the front 4 were superb today.

Bakes and unders seem top lads and I hope the impetus continues.

Ed smith was brilliant (again) but mom for me has to be warren Harris. Destroyed their full back all game. Surprised the guy could walk at all after being tied in knots time and time again.

From my point of view,as others have said before me,Warren Harris was MOM.

To think he is playing with an injury, too,is amazing. He has certainly won this fan over.

Thought Dave Woozley and Guy Hollis were very good, too, even though they both had their work cut out with the tricky ex-Chalfont winger Terrell Lewis, who was a handful all night.Good to see Wooz bringing the ball out of defence.

Credit where credit is due,Ollie Burgess has been excellent this season. As he probably knows I've never been his biggest fan,but he has been a relevation under the new managers[credit to them, too!]and has upped his performances considerably.

Under Steve Bateman, his work-rate was sporadic at best and I think the faster tempo Slough are currently trying to adopt has lifted his game.

Ed Smith should be playing at a higher level in the pyramid but aren't we all glad he's not! He and Johnny Dyer are forming a good partnership.Johnny Dyer played well again and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet.

Don't want to be negative but think Sean Fraser hasn't been at his best in the last two matches. Not sure if he's carrying a knock. Also thought Darren Wheeler had a excellent first half but faded and looked jaded in the second and was rightly subbed but these are just being picky from what was another excellent win.

As for Ashford, thought they are a better outfit to where their position in the table suggests.I think they will cause many an upset to supposed better teams in this division and I expect them to finish a way above where they currently sit.

Was unable to make last nights game but a very good point you have raised 3spirit and one I completely agree with.

Ollie Burgess has been fantastic this season, I think that our management are very good at knowing where to play players to get the best out of them....often last season Ollie found himself on the left and it did not work....since he has been moved back into the middle he has been very good and works well with the workmanlike type midfielders such as Edwards and McClurg.....

Now they can pick almost their optimum team

Three consecutive excellent results, but due to injuries I still don't think we have yet seen the full potential of this squad Bakes and Unders have put together.

I didn't manage to get to the match but who weren't available last night? Foulser, Short, Lake, Edwards, Scott Harris?

Most clubs in this league would be struggling with that many players out..... the managers have obviously but together not just a good eleven but a good squad.

Another good team performance and win last night. Some really good football played in the first half, maybe we went off the boil a bit for 15-20 minutes in the second half but good to see Wooz get everyone together during an injury break and sort things out. 3 more goals for Eddie, he could get 40 this year if he stays injury free. Agree that Wazza was MOM though, superb performance from him but we were good all over the pitch.

Tough test now on Saturday but it certainly looks like the lads have settled after an indifferent start. With injuries hopefully starting to clear and the team racking up wins I'm sure it won't be long until we are in amongst the play off places. COYR!

Yes, got there in the end, made hard work of it second half but a win is a win and that's all we were worried about ..we're creeping up the table as we all start to gel playing together .. Still a few gears in us we believe .. Good support as well

Wes Harrison also was missing, and probably will be for the next 2/3 weeks.

Wheeler hurt his calf (which he did against Cirencester), however he should hopefully be fine for the weekend.

Scott Harris will be back available and we are hopeful Lakey will be fit also, however we now miss Ben Edwards for 2 weeks due to holiday (he runs Westhill Golf Club, and is only able to take holidays outside of the summer months and always goes away these 2 weeks) however he has been struggling with his groin, so the rest will do him the world of good.

However he will only miss the one league game against Egham in that time, so is quite good timing.

Foulser and George are still slightly longer term, and we can't put a date on when they will be back, however hopeful both will not be too long.

While it was not quiet as impressive as Saturday, the team did very well to keep the composure to stay in front when Ashford threatened to get back into the game.  Fair play to Ashford they were better than their position suggests and as we knew before they like to try and play football more than some other teams in this league.

Have to agree that when Warren Harris gets the ball things do seem to happen, I look forward to seeing what he is like when he is not carrying the injury! A shame to see Wheeler go off injured.  There's certainly no denying his quality but he seemed a little out of the game and maybe that played a part

As for Smithy, the number of goals he has already this season says it all, he's a proven goalscorer and the quality is showing.

Another big win, 12 goals in 3 games is very impressive, let's hope this continues for a while yet, it's good to see us climbing the table.

COYR!

another good performance tonight, i am one that does not agree with what is said about talking down the opposition teams have always tried to get one over slough, long before there were computers or forums, what is important is that the manager makes sure his players heads are in the right place before each game, making sure that the team are all up for it, because no matter what is said on here teams will always want to turn us over, something with us being the big team historicaly.and i have watched this team for a long long time.

Another good result, yes Harris ( not a Steve Thompson yet )and Smith stood out in a good all round performance.Don't think my saying we should beat them before the game had any effect on them ( as management tried to indicate )we were plainly the better side.

I know it's not the management's preferred way of playing,so very unlikely to happen but I'd love to see Warren Harris playing either behind the front two or in a centre midfield of 2 or 3 players[with one playing the holding role].

Sometimes seems a waste playing such talented, skilful ball players ie Warren Harris,Jake Parsons as out and out wingers, being that the goal is not in front of them.

What was great about Steve Thompson was that he would play either up front or in the centre of midfield. He would terrorise the opposition with his dazzling mazy dribbling and created space and no end of goals either for himself or for others.

Rarely see this type of attacking play in games these days, which is a great shame.

Also he played his football at Football League level as well has Conference level.Last I heard he was coaching Woking.

Warren Harris is only 21,so has time yet.

'Thommo' was a class act and I still think we sold him too cheaply especially as he ended up going to Wycombe and then Woking.

He is still coach/assistant to Garry Hill at Woking.

Yes he would have made an all Slough eleven easily. He and Reardon would have been first on the team sheet.

DJM your having a laugh Thommos performance alone and goal on a thursday night at Bostom saved us from relegation from the conference as Hotspur has said he and Reardon were just class players who could dictate the pace and direction of a game very privalage that i watched and they played for the Rebels CLASS.
