Slough Town v Ashford Town - 24th Sept 7.45pm

I'm really looking forward to this match and hoping that we can continue the good form we have shown in the last two matches.

I know absolutely nothing about Ashford, other than they have won 2 and lost 4 so far this season, so I won't attempt to predict a score.

Does anybody know anything about them this season?

I like Ashford, they seem to be struggling a bit this year but usually a solid enough mid table side who like to try and play a bit. Our recent record against them is excellent and I think we have won something like our last 7 games against them, racking up a few goals along the way.

Highlights from last year's 6-1 win are worth a watch, not least for a 30 yard Ollie Burgess thunderbolt - http://www.sloughtownfc.net/reports/4788/

We understand they are yet another poor side who we ought to beat comfortably

I think I recall you saying the same about every club we have played so far this season..... and Banbury who are sitting sixth in the Premier division.

Your recall not very good then-never said Barton were  an easy side- nor Banbury-IN fact I said we went to the cup game and neither were very good on the day -if you RECALL I ASKED YOU WHAT YOU THOUGHT OF THE GAME !

Thanks for giving Ashford Middx their team talk.....

I know for a fact that if I saw postings before a game effectively saying it will be easy (which it 100% will not be), I would be using that to get the lads up for it..... So pretty sure other managers would be doing the same.

And we wonder why teams over celebrate when they turn Slough over....

Neil You are as entitled to your opinion as I am and obviously we wont both be correct but lets wait and see how things turn out shall we? I can remember how difficult you thought the games against Kettering and Rugby would be Ive never seen the point in talking up the opposition better imo to tell it as it is.

No game is a given.

Ashford are a well run club who always present a team that like to play football.Having read their forum thread about their game with Kettering,it appears they had a man sent off early, and then Kettering got the better of them.

I would like to think we will beat them but don't for one minute think this is a forgone conclusion.

Actual fact it can work the other way-look at all the teams who go to Man Utd. and are often beaten before they start. If you start telling the poor sides in our league they are good then they may start to believe it! We must enter each game with confidence, not ready made excuses.

Oh for the love of god, we win two games and all of a sudden we are world beaters now.

Amazing how peoples bitching / negative attitude towards our club changes to OVER confidence after just two wins.

I am one of you (a fellow Rebel) and some of the posts I read I think 'why'....

Everyone is entitled to their opinions (or be contriversial saying black is white and white is black just to get a bite from others), but some of this OTT arrogance is wrong.

Theres ways and then theres 'ways' of saying we think we should win the next game (nothing is given).

When we are 11 points clear at the top of the league and not 11 behind, we can then afford to be over confident.

I am Slough, but can see why other fans make it their first priority to come on here and rub it in on here when we lose (and we wonder why teams tend to put more effort into games versus us).

COYR!!!

I completely agree with you Neil......I also do not believe you can judge a team until at least 15 games into the season......I mean if we are then this is just a mid table clash :)

Interestingly enough Neil (and feel free not to answer this), as Godalming managers did you ever read this forum before your games with us last season (again I respect you may not feel it appropriate to answer but was interested)
