Midweek Games - Tuesday/Wednesday 24/25 September

Fantastic to see WGC on the up, have the geographic potential to go higher too :)

Haha DirtyClaret: 'it could've been 6 or 7 easy' - Classic! Any news on Crawley getting floodlights on the actual Crawley setup?

No, no new news, think it's just a case of finalising planning and some final fund raising. Think there's investment from the FA, council and neighbouring school coming in too. The plan is for a 4g pitch with stand as this is ok to be used up to a certain level apparently.

Anyone at berko v dunny? Would like to hear thoughts on it

AFC 2     BERKO  2

Against a good Berko side who will no doubt be challenging for the title this turned out to be highly competitive and entertaining match, with a draw probably the right result.

In the opening period it was AFC who had more of a cutting edge, and BJ Cristie shot narrowly wide after 5 minutes, however 10 minutes later Cristie made no mistake when he neatly lobbed over keeper Carl Tasker when put clean thru by a peach of a ball by Courtney Massey. Berko came more into the game and created a couple of half chances themselves, but just before the interval Tasker made a great full length save from Dale Turney and Dan Ryan headed just over from a corner.

After only 5 minutes into the 2nd period AFC were dealt a huge blow when talisman Dan Ryan was stretchered off with a knee injury, and within 10 minutes Berko struck twice courtesy of headed goals of quality from James Towell and Conner Calcut.

AFC immediately made some changes and with Wayne Mills making inroads down the left and Chris Francis terrorizing the back line AFC began to threaten. Chris Francis carved himself out a good chance but after 87 minutes it was Kyle Lincoln who went on a maizy run and forced his way into the box before having his heels clipped for a disputed penalty. Lincoln dusted himself down before blasting the penalty home to bring the score level. AFC had the better of the remaining 15 minutes but in truth the result was probably fair.

DIVISION ONE

0-4 Southall v Crawley Green

Southall were very poor yesterday and there defence didn't have a clue and the keeper had a nightmare apart from the penalty save and Southalls shooting was awful.

Have to say I was impressed with Crawley Green they have some pacey forwards and some solid dependable midfielders and defenders and what a throw in Crawley Greens num 3 has Delap eat your hart out ;)

Southall FC have a lot to do if they want to go up this season.

Baldock Town 2-2 Bedford

Having humped the visitors 5-1 on their own patch, the hosts must have fancied their chances of a double unusually early in the season. It seemed that way when Baldock took the lead, but Bedford came back strongly to turn it around and only in injury time were Baldock able to square it to the chagrin of the Bedford manager who let his post-match feelings about the goal and the hosts be known in no uncertain terms :)

Only one more visit planned this season, unless weather dictates otherwise - Crawley Green on 20/11.

Thanks for that.

We actually have 3 players in our squad that can throw the ball as far as our number 3 but he has the youngest back so we let him do it. There is a running joke that that's the only reason he's in our team!

Only one team turned up yesterday and it was not Southall FC.

Thought the Crawley Green keeper looked a good honest keeper. Southall could learn a lot from the way Crawley Green played yesterday.

Also some decent support for Crawley Green.

Southalls game this Saturday is a must win convincingly game.
