On gates of under 100 and trips to Merthyr and the like, I assume most of the budget that FTFC have goes on travel.

That is the initial price of success.

I can understand his frustration re cash available to players. Of course, I am not privy to their budget.

However, the best coaches and managers I have met and worked with get over this via good coaching, scouting networks and general hard work day in, day out.

It is easy to have a revolving door on the changing room when cash is no object.

I love the fact that his last big paragraph is just once sentence!

A mere 270 words long!

My God,how is this man managing a side,at any level.Excuse after Excuse, feel sorry for me attitude. He asks for constructive comments,,well here is mine 'Resign immediately'that would give the Players a lift.

Heard the greatest half time team talk the other night at Met Police.Manager of Met Police.'You are a disgrace 7 of you lot, will be getting your cards after the game,if things do not improve' Alas they played even worse, wonder if he followed through with his threat.

Do you even no him ?

I've moved to fleet this year to give it ago at a higher standard, he's very honest and hard working, and the budget he's got is a hell of a lot less than what people pay in the combined counties so he's put in alot of hard work and scouted young talent from around who like myself aren't after money, his training sessions are spot on and to a high standard, smudge for your resign comment your a joke how about you have a go at management at any level first before giving that sort of opinion fleet are very lucky to have a man of his calibur at the club, the side he has down there is very good and we are working on it , we pass the ball better than most teams in the league, but just need a finishing edge, we had a bad result last night losing to guildford but we forget and move on to the next which I can guarantee someone is in for a hiding soon, smudge pop down for a game ill pay ur entrance fee see if it changed your mind of the team and the manager.

Ftfc, firstly I do not do freebies, but thanks for the offer. You will realise that Step 4 Football is not about playing the beautiful game, more about pace, aggression, and being a Good header of a ball,as the ball spends more time in the Air,than on the ground. My perception of having a decent team is togetherness throughout the Club, which unfortunately your Manager by his remarks above is not showing,to the Players, and more importantly Fleet Town itself.I would love to Manage a Club, alas I have no coaching badges, previous Football Management experience,or the ability to Bullshit Clubs at interview about what they can achieve, like many do.Then fail and blame Budgets, player unavailibility, injuries,Suspensions, which if they were realists,is always part and Parcel of Football at this level.

On a final note, seems to me of late on this Forum, that knocking SMUDGE,is a pastime for many posters, alas I have a hard skin, and will continue with my Honest,Heartfelt comments, many I may remind you,in time are realised.

Certainly strange for a 'Gaffer' to be  SO  critical in print.  He should save it for the changing-rooom !

I met him on a couple of occasions after a number of email exchanges regarding the fall out at AFC Totton a few years ago.

Found him to be a very likable guy - decent player too. Takes a good pen!

Step 4 is not about playing the game really? This southern league is all about playing it on the deck rather than the ryman were the above mentioned is true, as for our togetherness how would u no if you've not been Down we are a very tight nit group who all get along and fight for one another,

Quick question smudge if you'd love to do it why not get your badges and give it a go its not a walk in the park as u may think, there are all those issues you've mentioned and more

Onto the next one- he definetly saves it for the changing room as he let us no personally his thoughts after games and actually takes the time out of his way to come talk to you which I appreciated very much as I've never really had that before from a management for example if you were dropped you just sat on the bench and got on with it,

Kronos why is he doing our team and club no favours?

My head shakes when I read some of the things on here. The number of people who have an opinion on absolutely nothing they know about keeps amazing me. I popped along to watch Fleet Town about 3 seasons back and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, especially the half-time Dominos Pizzas.

More the issue is the harm that the Premier League and Sky / BSkyB has done to football at non-league levels. Throw in the proliferation of computerised football manager type games and all that matters is money. I really don't give a flying one whether this club pays out this or that club pays out that. What is important to me is that the club is run properly and has a sound infrastructure to ensure that it doesn't whither and die. Believe me, I have a bit of an idea what that feels like. That said though, how many lessons are actually learnt following the demise of any club? Very, very few and even then only when it is too late.

Ask yourselves. What are you in football for?

FTFC.

It is badly written.  He repeats the same thing a lot of time.  "Best side we have played" "Bigger Budget than us"  "They said we were the best side they have played"

I don't doubt for a second the manger puts his heart and soul into it and is a top bloke nut I just honestly think that he would be best not doing the notes and it doesn't help the image of the club.

I agree but the problem is a lot of sides that have the glory do it on the basis of spending more than they can afford.  I am afraid the previous incarnation of Windsor is an example of that.  Not the only one to be fair as there are numerous.  people need to be brave and say no we are not paying,  Come and play for us because we look after you, we have decent training facilities and a decent pitch

Imagine if all the CCL clubs who are paying put money into making their pitches better.  Yes my club may well be in that number.  Decent pitches, decent players and decent games.  Maybe then people would watch ?
