David Bauckham_6932
Nice pics - good to see something other than match shots Glad you like the pics. If you check through my previous sets over the past few years http://www.flickr.com/photos/ccpub/sets/ you'll see that the intention is always to concentrate on the very special 'culture' of non-League football, rather than purely close-up action shots of 'blokes and a ball' that could have been taken anywhere. This is 'real' football: warts and all, and I think it is this 'character' that makes us enjoy non-League all the more. What was very evident at RPV, and is the case at so many similar clubs, was that a small number of volunteers devote a significant amount of time into just keeping 'their' club afloat despite the fact that it is always an uphill struggle. I've been photographing non-League football, and visiting clubs for well over 10 years now and most go out their way to make visitors feel welcome, and RPV was no different. If you'll excuse the plug, last year I published a book, 'Love Not Money' that featured a number of non-League volunteers that I had encountered on my travels over the previous two years, as without them we wouldn't have non-League football. Check out http://www.centrecirclepub.co.uk PS. I believe the £50K FA Grant received by RPV is being spent on roof repairs and ground maintenance equipment.
