FA Cup banned player

Recommended Posts

Can anyone enlighten us as to the fa cup rules. Evidently, so we have been told, Barton Rovers had a suspended player on their team sheet and the FA threw them out of the competition. They complained saying they didn't know and were reinstated. Is this fair? Is it right?

The player was on the team sheet but didn't come on.

Evidently an ex Langford player that was on a two game ban but not listed on the beds fa website. Still banned none the less!

Not being petty but rules are rules... Unless you play dumb so it seems

Rules are the rules, if we are not reinstated in the FA cup this will be a travesty. If every club that fielded banned players said they did'nt know it would make a mockery of the whole competition.

One can see your point and I fully agree that any club fielding banned players should be removed from the competition however given the fact that he didn't actually take part and that your were soundly beaten then in my personal opinion I cannot see the FA overturning their decision.

Here what  you are saying Karen, except imagine the scenario that Luton town played Manchester United in the FA cup final  and lost 20-nil, but UTD had a banned player on the bench, would the cup be awarded to Luton, of course it would rules are rules. We shall be taking this further.

I think the fact the FA suspension list was down at the time will probably work in their favour.

Although obviously I want ampthill to succeed as they were my fa cup prediction!

We have just received the follow2ing email from Steve Clarke of the FA confirming that Barton Rovers have broken the laws, which the FA handbook confirms that if a team lists a  banned player on the team sheet they will automatically be thrown out of the competition. We have been in contact with the Non league paper and other football related papers who are coming to interview our chairman and manager about the whole situation. We now have it in black and white that the rules have been breached, we want reinstating in the Fa cup . This makes a complete mockery of the rules.

RE: Fa rule

Barton Rovers have been advised that a player serving a suspension should have not been named on a team sheet and they will be dealt with accordingly but this is not a matter that affects the match result.

You will almost surely be awarded the match.

Not based on the email from the FA above.

If not the FA will be embarrassed in The Non league news. They have admitted there was a breach and originally kicked Barton out as soon as they found out, but they have since reinstated them. What the hell is  going on at the FA?

I'm with Steve Clark on this one. The Club will be dealt with on the grounds of an incorrect team sheet.

The Club cannot be found guilty of playing an ineligible player (suspended player) if he has not participated in the game.

I have highlighted in red part of you post. Can you tell me which Rule this is as I cannot find it?

Maybe they were waited on confirmation from the Referee to ascertain if the player participated in the fixture.

You have wrote incorrect team sheet!! The team sheet was correct the suspended player was kitted out the the player was on the bench yes the player did not play but still naming a suspended player on a official team sheet which is handed to the referee 45 mins before is a rule broken. You will find this is the only country where if the the player is named on the team sheet and not come on it is classed as not participated.
