margateshot
Why oh why do we play our matches on the same day that England are playing. Up to last night, over the first 4 home matches, we had 500 more through the turnstiles than the first 4 matches last season and 450 more than the season before. Surely the Ryman league would allow teams to change to a Wednesday or even not have matches that week. I know it was not an attractive match but considering our current position we surely must have got a higher attendance than the 153 last night. upthegate
Lets be brutally honest, the awful performance of the team on Saturday has to be partly to blame. Yes the weather was bad and yes England were on tv but the team and management have to share responsibility for last nights attendance. Saturday, non league day, was a great chance for the club as a whole to put on a good spectacle to encourage fans to come back. Unfortunately the display on the pitch was poor to say the least. Yes we are 4th in the table and yes it has been a good start to the season but reality is that people are turned off by lacklustre hoof ball football. Coffin Ender
We were hardly alone. Billericay had 163, Canvey had 185. It's a question for the Ryman League really as to why midweek games are arranged in international weeks. I believe clubs should be allowed to move kick-off 24 hours to dodge England games. Margate Don
Worth noting that Cray, Hampton and Thamesmead all have home games tonight but generally play mid-week games on Tuesdays I believe. I would have thought we too could have swapped nights just for this occasion given the obvious clash.

Frankie100
Heard last night that a suggestion was made that the game be switched to tonight but East Thurrock thought it to close to an important FA Cup game Saturday

That's precisely my point CE, they are both some of the better supported clubs in the league.
