Yes....Well...no...

BB... you know me... Varied and enjoyable...

Can't hit the target with every song (just like a striker doesn't hit the goal with every shot) but hey, this guy feels compelled to comment on the negatives all the time and not appreciate the positives...

And I remember a time when I was called a music snob...

The first half was a massive improvement on the football from the first few games.  The lads passed the ball around quickly, retained possession and looked dangerous on each attack.  Even after Leiston's early goal Billericay still looked to attack and attack.

Sums him up perfectly.

Gazza, I am a self-confessed music snob.  I didn't pick on the whole evening's music I mentioned one and used it to highlight how comical that miss was.  Unfortunately you can't cater for or please everyone.  Any politician would tell you that.

Now watch that fella score today...

Back to football.

Craig will make few chances, Ricky back in the starting line-up and Town to win 3-1.

My favourite Sweet track is 'Turn it Down' from the Desolation Boulevard album.  They were one of the best bands of the early 70's!  I don't remember them, before my time.

Well, well...now we're talking...

Sweet Fanny Adams being the best glam rock album EVER released (okay...maybe not if you consider Ziggy, Aladdin, Tanx, Electric Warrior, Roxy Music....but hey...)

Their 'b' side (for those that remember vinal) were great... Diffiuclt to say what track would be a fav... all have their moments... the rock version of Fox on the Run (disgraceful what they did to the track to turn it into a hit single but... considering it was a hit single says it all), Cockroach (from the Give Us A Wink album), Action...

Ahhhhhh....even thier pop stuff was good...

I saw them live on two occassions... 1973 at the Southend Kurssal and 1978 (I think) at the Hammersmith. A great band... I have yet to see Andy Scott's Sweet but have a couple of their live efforts and by and large are faithful to the legacy of the band...

I am very 'old school' in my musical tastes and have been disappointed in their modern stuff.  A mate of mine has a 'best of' that was released a few years ago but its re-recorded stuff.  I burnt him a copy of the originals.

They've been covered a lot, Raven covered 'Hellraiser/Action' in what is a very good version and Joan Jett did a decent version 'ACDC' (Carmen Electra is in the video!)

When it comes to Glam Rock I'd have to rate T. Rex at the top of my list.

Oh... I wouldn't even go near a re recorded best off... I don't mind the live stuff... they keep faithfull to the originals. They have released a Sweet Fanny Adams live album which every one appears to do now and it is a very powerful performance... unfortuntaely the original band hasn't been well served with live recordings... either sounding really dated or poor quality. With their close harmonies, they would've benefited with throw back monitors, which, if you look at any pictures from 1973 / 1974 performances are not there!!! So, very raw... not a bad thing if you are there... but for play back..

So I do recommend the new live album. Andy Scott is on form as is the nband (it is always nice to hear a truely talented guitarist to play his intstrument and not rely entirely on effects a la Muse!!!). The band tread the live between tribute and being a "stand up" version of the band well in my opinion.

I have a soft spot for Slade. A band that, again, walked the line of pop and rock well. Holder is a much under rated guitarist... His slide guitar work on some of their music, when used, is very tight. As the rest of the band...

Queen's early work gets played down the club when I have a mind to... Liar, Great King Rat... I have even aired March of the Black Queen / Funny How Love...May play Tenament Funster from Sheer Heart Attack this season...

But it isn't all about glam... I do like old soul and R 'n' B... Certainly enjoyed Armed & Extremley Dangereous by First Choice, played yesterday as well as the Spinners "I'll Be Around" (top ten tune in my book)...

And as people know, there is the ska, punk and new wave which I enjoy... as well as some of the "shoe staring" alternative, indie music which goes down well at times...(usually when we're not playing well... lol).

I suppose my all time favorite band (with the exception of The Beatles and The 'Stones) would be Yes... or ELP... or Deep Pruple.... or Black Sabbath... or Led Zeppelin...or....

Damn it all.... I just like and appreciate good music whatever the genre....Whatever the style, it brings me joy.

As for Joan Jett's version of AC / DC... Got it... it's good... I shall play it next play list.

I listen to all sorts but I draw the line at The Beatles, Prog Rock and Motown.  I am generally left cold by modern music so look to the past for my musical entertainment.

My favourite band are Judas Priest, my favourite album is 'British Steel'.  I love Metal!

Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin are/were amazing bands, that early 70's period of Hard Rock produced some amazing stuff.  Nazareth, Budgie, Blue Oyster Cult, UFO...

New Wave was an amazingly productive period, though it is a term that covers a lot of stuff.  Synth, post-Punk, Ska, New Romantic...  Three of the greatest number 1 hits of all time happened at the time, 'I Don't Like Mondays', 'Are 'Friends' Electric' and 'Ghost Town'.  I have 8-9 hours worth of 'New Wave' tracks on my ipod.

I absolutely love Kraftwerk.  I've been listening to them for at least 20 years and have a decent collection of their stuff in different languages.  Coupled with Punk Kraftwerk were a HUGE influence on New Wave and music of the 80's.
