Sponsor of Beer
Following their pulsating 4-3 win at Wingate & Finchley on Saturday, Town's young guns start their home fixture list on Wednesday with a 19:45 kick off against Waltham Forest. There will be some familiar faces from previous U-18, Capital & Essex Senior League campaigns on show, plus plenty of new players chosed after the lengthiest pre-season programme in footballing history..... Chase Side Towner
Well done the U21s for an away win. Glad to see at least one side knows how to get three points on the road! http://www.wingatefinchley.com/u21reports.php 9th September Ryman U21 League Wingate & Finchley 3 Enfield Town 4The Under 21 development side started their season with a very closely fought game against local rivals Enfield Town. The game started with both sides being wary of their opponents , however a hand ball within the Wingate area by Jessie Parsons lead to an early lead for Enfield Town with the penalty scored by Ben Ward-Cochrane. The Enfield team were more competitive and showed more desire to win the ball.Enfield dominated playing the better passing football for most of the first half, however Wingate pulled back level with an unlikely equaliser when Alfie Bartram headed home from a Joe Sharpe corner. The home team upped their tempo in the second half, though went 2-1 behind as Ward-Cochrane tapped in a rebound, before coming back with goals from Nii Armarfio and then the move of the game when Jeremy Nestor and Gavin Suddell linked up to put the home team in front 3-2 with 13 minutes left on the clock. However, a poor overall defensive game from Wingate allowed Enfield Town to score two late soft and scrappy goals and run out 4-3 winners, a result that was possibly correct and should give the youngsters a reminder of the desire and consistency that is needed when they step up. Begrudging praise by the looks of things.

CD Towner
Another season for the reserves/youth team in a Mickey Mouse league. Given that none of our u21s are good enough for the first team, how bad must these teams be they are playing!
OldTowner
Don't agree at all. u.21 team played well - yes opposition could of been better, but other teams in the league will be. Couple of players stood out and may have caught the eye of Steve N who was watching.
CD Towner
Lets see how many of those u21s go on to play for the first team. In the 5 years SN has been at the club how many reserve players have established themselves as 1st team regulars? Does that reflect on SN or the reserves? I'd say the latter more than anything
