Billericay Town Unofficial
With a full compliment of players Bognor looked a good footballing side. They kept the ball well and passed it around confidently. They deserved the first half lead. Benjamin's equaliser was a touch of class. From where I stood most people thought he'd run it too far wide but his trickery was a pleasant surprise. I didn't see the tackle that lead to the red card, maybe someone could enlighten me to what happened? Despite Billericay's pressure in the second half Bognor still looked dangerous when they attacked. Their work rate was great and the winning goal was hardly a surprise. Javlon Campbell was lucky not to get sent off at the end. The forearm smash was worth a sending off and his behaviour just before that was a red card offence too. It doesn't bode well for a good attendance on Tuesday night.
jl
Absolutely shocked at that. Perhaps we can get the defibrillator going to see if some of ours have any heart. I know it's only 7 games but I am getting a bit bothered now.
Billericay or Harrogate
We even had the ref on our side today and still managed to lose !! Thought we played quite well for the first 20 minutes or so, looked lively up front but the defence looked shaky every time there was any pressure. No idea what happened with the sending off. From opposite it just looked like a body check with maybe a yellow card. The ref seemed to be the only person in the ground who decided on a red card and boy was he decisive, never seen a card brandished so quickly. But to be fair to Bognor they continued playing neat possession football despite this set back. Had a chuckle when their forward was caught offside and smashed the ball away well after the whistle went with no yellow card - obviously the ref didn't watch the Moldova game. Frankly I thought we were really poor in the second half, no heart, no skill, no tactics, in fact not a clue. Craig said that the team was needing time to blend. how much time, 7 games in now and very little to be positive about. We seem for a change to have a huge number of forwards both in number and weight but no really decent centre backs. Two important games against Leiston coming up and some real focus needed. Couldnt have put it better myself jl......considering they were down to 10 men our threat up front was non existent, lets hope we get it right sooner rather than later coyb
Delboybtfc
The red card was a definite right in front of us went over the top studs up. We had a reasonable first half but once again looked lethargic and leg less in the second. We need to be able to play ninety minutes to win a game not one half. Gareth J
In the second half we just changed down a couple of gears. We gave them so much space in mid-field that they could play where they wanted. From the hour mark onwards there was only going to be one likely winner. I'm not convined playing the 2 big lads up front together works - they are too similar (and both somewhat immobile). This is turn doesn't help the midfield which is often absent. Then this puts great pressure on a defence, which I think it's fair to say is not our strong point! We have to pressure the opposition more from the front. We will come up against much better teams than Bognor (no disrespect) this season. We must do better.
Billericay Town Unofficial
The highlight, for me, was the stunningly attractive girl standing in the Cow Shed all the way through the game. The defence is quite shaky, the centre backs lack pace. The attack looks a lot livelier with Javlon partnering one of the larger built players. Ryan.c
I got the impression that if Bognor started the game with 10 men it would have been the same outcome. We looked disjointed and lethargic. A centre-half and central midfielder needed from somewhere to hold of this team, which does have more ability than its shown so far, and start doing the basics right again. It's not quite panic button time, but attendances should show everyone where the paying supporter thinks this club is right now. Next 3 games are massive. Could be worse though, could be a Cardboard City fan!
palace12
There was only going to b one winner as they seemed to have more desire, we lacked the willingness to hassle , tackle and win the second ball
AdamBTFC
I don't quite know where we are heading at the moment, as always there is still a long way to go on this season but there are vast improvements that need to be made. I personally don't think I have seen a Blues defence that has looked so dysfunctional and I don't know whether that is because they haven't 'jel'd' as a unit yet or whether they are just simply not good enough to play at this level, something needs to be done. Our midfield did not look good enough to support either the defence nor the strikers, which has been said before now and I think they just aren't playing with a Billericay heart - it's the only reason I can think of as I am sure with players like Poole, Junior etc who we have in midfield are in fact good enough to compete at this level. I also don't think the combination of Joe Benjamin and Ricky Sappleton works for me either. All in all, not looking good, we had one lucky break and scored but apart from that, Bognor always looked like the team to score and win the game. Fortress New Lodge is no longer looking like a Fortress.
New Lodger
What a load of old poppycock. One lucky break? I take it that was the moment of sublime skill from Benjamin? I felt the two strikers worked excellently together and I hope Craig keeps them together tomorrow night. Perhaps you forgot Sappletons drive against the post or the number of saves their goalie pulled off from Sappleton and Benjamin especially when he thwarted Sappleton when he had all but rounded him. Ryan.c
Was a great goal by Benjamin shame it wasn't captured on video. Personally I'd go for Campbell up front with Benjamin. Can't beat a bit of pace up front.
