Match Thread vs Rugby

Hopefully this'll lighten the mood on here!

Rugby may be low on confidence having needed penalties to beat lower league Norton United, after being humiliated 5-0 by Daventry. There's a good preview on the Rugby official site here http://www.rugbytownfc.com/2013-14/news/130906slough.htm

The weather should be fine, and hopefully there will be a decent crowd for non-league day. I'm hoping to see a fired up and committed Slough side eager to make up for lost time and to prove doubters wrong. All this makes for what should be a cracking game tomorrow.

Can't be there today but hope the lads turn in a good performance to reward the faith of the managers and continued strong words of support that both Neil and Jon have put in print this week.

More poor luck aside, you'd certainly hope for a full squad (Shortie aside) will be available for selection for the Chalfont game on the 17th, but I think they've said only Foulser and Short are out at the moment.

Here's hoping for a positive result and another three points come 5pm today.

Well done Slough Town.Sounds like Smithy had a blinder. On Twitter appears Wooz had a good game, too.

Perhaps we should play with ten men every week!

About time we got the rub of the green. There was me thinking, that when Blounty got sent off we were going to have rotten luck again.

Seems I've missed a cracker.Ho-hum.

Quick report. First half was well matched and still some moaning from behind goal. 2nd half we played them off the park. Mcloving bossed the middle the wingers ran themselves into the ground. And woozley, yes woozley was like a 3rd winger (a 50 yard run to by line bearing two defenders for the 2nd) ed smiths penalty was well saved but he kept his head and completely destroyed their defence (as a lone striker)brilliant!!

Four great strikes from Smith, if only he could take pens (only joking Ed)! ;-)

Huge credit to Wooz for two of the goals, second goal I think he thought he was Wheeler for a second running down the left wing(!), taking on players and getting the ball into the box.

Defence had a very good game, particular when Wooz and Hollis were together I thought. Long way to go, but much better and I won't go too overboard on a win, much like a don't after a defeat. Very good team performance though and a good platform to build on.

Oh and full credit to Rugby, top club with very friendly fans.

Don't think I've ever seen the likes of Dave Woozley for setting up the second goal!

Superb performance and really today - we made Rugby look incredibly average in the second half!

Ed Smith and Dave Woozley for MOM for me

Neither team played at their best but we did play better than we have been recently.

First half was fairly even and both red cards were spot on by the ref. the goal at the end of the first half made a big impact on the game. We came out alot more confident snd started to dominate. Wooz was brilliant in creating the 2nd and 3rd and smith was clinical today and showed that even though his penalty was saved that he will be in the running for golden boot this season.

After the fourth we were comfortable and eased off.

Quick mention for jake with a couple of good saves to earn himself a clean sheet.

Very pleased and not surprised with this result I also hope its the start of a run I don't believe there are enough better teams this season to keep us out of the top five so I remain optimistic that we will finally start getting back where we belong.
