Windsor Rebel

Hotspur. Think you may be confusing me with some other supporter who moved to Tuffley soon after I moved down here, think he was Dedworth Rebel on here back then.  I'm too posh for Tuffley anyway, live in Prestbury.

Grandad (aka Martin Lovegrove for those who do not know)

Talk about  pot kettle and black-I doubt Windsor rebel is your birth name-so you are unknown to  to us!!

I know who Windsor Rebel is, he was kind enough to introduce himself to me with his real name and user name, at the fans forum before the start of the season.

I didn't catch your name though? (pot kettle and black me thinks)

I am torn in this conversation..........

On one hand I agree with those who believe in freedom of speech and that this is a forum fro everyone and is an unofficial place for supporters to come. Therefore why shouldn't supporters be allowed to post their views.

The point around players and management reading these posts also, I believe they should see this as motivation to spur them on and prove a point which I'm sure a lot of them do. I remember being at St Neots after we won 1-0 there and speaking to a certain Mr Bateman who basically walked in and said "Right, wheres that cookham rebel then"

However, I believe that these comments could come across as unrest between players, those who run the club and supporters. If I was a potential supporter ( A local business), would I sponsor a club where the fans and management are at each others throats (seemingly) or would I support a team such as Burnham who are in a higher league albeit with no support but no signs of unrest either. With that in mind I wonder how MYFC view some of the posts on here being our main sponsor?

To be honest Mark44 its quite tame on here, you should come on the MYFC forum, we even have a fight club (all with tongue in check)

There have been some very valid points made on this thread. My personal feeling is that everything to do with "supporting" the club is up for discussion as it a free forum, but that I wouldn't say anything on here that I wouldn't say to that persons face.

It should be down to that persons moral compass as to how they phrase their postings, that's why we have moderators to pull people into line when they have stepped over the mark.

I don't agree with people having to give their real name unless that is a criterion of the forum when they sign up.

Some people like to post without their identity being revealed - it should be their right, but they like anyone else should expect to be banned if they overstep common decency.

We have/had the same issues & debates on Margate FC forum, it is  a difficult one as you want to instigate debate and feelings and passions. I think the worst situation is when you have outsiders (for example like what I am doing now) come onto a forum and cause trouble. Most of us here at Margate just ignore most bad vibes now. What we feel is we know who the "other" forum members are, and people will challenge them face to face over a beer. Hence it won'e be difficult to spot who I am...Don't get too stressed you can't agree with everyone, and everyone will see things differently, that's why we love our football.

Giving your real name is nothing but a " RED HERRING ", some supporters  may know Windsor rebel or others, but the other 200- 300 may not . My point being we could give you any name and unless you knew the person it would be pointless.

I quite agree with the right to anonymity as long as that person agrees to abide by the rules of the forum. In this case the STFC forum is a small one and a lot of people on here know by sight and name the majority of posters .

While this promotes a sense of reality (i.e. you know the person you are posting to) it can make some people feel a bit suspicious of others who are reticent to "reveal" their true self.

I don't have any issue with this and as long as people stick to the posting rules , you can call yourself who ever you want.

I have to agree with those who believe that the moderators have all the authority they need to properly police this forum Its an unofficial forum and the direct link from the STFC site has now been removed so it shouldnt have to follow any official line. I havent seen any persuasive argument put forward by those who would censor anything they dont agree with in respect of knowing the real names of members I was happy to post my real name yesterday and it certainly wont influence how I post I learnt the true names of several members yesterday but it means nothing more than their forum names I probably know them all by sight from attending games and they me but it changes nothing really What I am disappointed about is that the managers appear to the given up posting at present and I dont believe this is of their own volition They are both decent chaps with both the backbone and the balls to properly respond to the inevitable criticism the poor start has engendered and they have been responding well in my opinion They havent once been able to pick their optimum team and although the argument that a properly assembled squad should be able to cope is valid but it holds good only if one or two first choice players are missing but certainly not with six or seven out.I believe they have been told to stop contributing and thats the kind of interference I'd like to see ended.

This was a good forum with plenty of banter, there were plenty of different views and opinions,  now It seems the teams performances are effecting peoples attitudes on this site, I think this site is in danger of becoming very incestuous and the posting and views very very insular.

I think some people should get over themselves and realise this is an unofficial forum that isn't even connected to Slough FC, and to think of shutting it just because you don't agree with certain posts says more about them than the posters in question !

C'MON YOU RAMS !

Push the ignore button if what Ive said has really upset you ;)

Irish, I can assure you it is the managers decision only to stop replying to posts at this present time.

I have to agree with Nathan. I can't think of anything libellous. "Over paid primmadonners" (or whatever is was) may be pointless rude and put there to get a reaction but is not libellous. Saying x is stealing kit and sticking it on eBay is.

I, agree with mark here, I have a foot in both camps. It is a public forum with no official link to the club/ website etc so, in essence, people have the right to say their opinions freely. The flip side is that pointless, inane critical and non constructive comments are exactly that... Pointless and inane BUT I believe people should be allowed to say them. I personally would not put anything on here I wouldn't (and usually already have) said behind the goal to most of the regular users here.

The big shame is that it seems the management are no longer posting on here because of the above comments,,, and I thought that was great to have them let us know what was truth and what gossip....

It's a catch 22 this one.

If the managers feel they can't post on here, I think that tells its own story that the measures put in place over the summer haven't been enough. Something else needs to be done and that may be a specific registration process to view/post. At a time when we've got two managers who were happy to discuss options, gossip and provide valuable feedback on here, we've managed to move them away from that idea. We've lost more than enough posters over the past two years on here where it has become more run down and the overall quality and quantity of posts has significantly decreased in my opinion.

With regards to having an official club forum, don't necessarily think that's the way forwards.

Regarding moderation, I don't have the time or the inclination these days to do it, nor do I believe do the other two current moderators. Perhaps new blood is needed to step forward and better moderate the forum aligning it more closely to not only the overall forum rules but perhaps something more detailed for our forum. I welcome any applicants to contact me via PM if you have the desire to become a moderator moving forwards. There was a time when the forum really didn't need moderation. I don't think that's the case any more.

i woldn't worry about it pride has been hurt and as is often said the truth hurts, by keeping quiet all that does is create suspician, if you feel a poster has got close to the mark then tell them, no point in taking it to heart then letting it fester does nobody any good, unfortunately at the moment the performances on the pitch have not come up to pre season hype or expectations, i'm sure that after a few results all the junk that is being talked on here will be forgotten.

I hope our two managers do come back on this forum,as they've been a breath of fresh air to it.

It's been incredibly helpful to know of players fitness, suspensions, team line-ups,etc and thus stops fans putting false statements on the threads.Wish Steve Bateman had been so open and bold.

It's sad if they feel hounded off of this forum. Most of us don't want that to be.

I think they should front up and take no notice of any percieved detrimental comments,as we all talk bolloc*s at times and most of it is easily to spot and can easily be ignored.

Slough have some bloody good sides over the years, they've also had some bloody awful ones.People need to get realstic on our lofty ambitions. This squad needs time to develop but may need personnel change at some point if the expectations are to be met but as I've said before,Rome wasn't built in a day.Patience is needed.

I don't know what all the fuss was about,as we all knew, we was never going to win the FA Cup ! ha ha!

I was bothered more about the manner of the draw in our home fixture against such a poor opposition. We are just not taking our chances in front of goal. This is our main problem in why we are not getting results to go our way.

Surely as grown adults we can rationalize and have reasoned debate about the whys and wherefors of our squad.

Over to you,Bakes and Unders?
