Should we not strive to be more like Billericay??

Eastside Urchin

After reading various newspaper reports, forum reviews, managers quotes ...I think we need to take a long hard look at ourselves and ask the question "do we need to model ourselves on Billericay Town FC"

The reason I ask this is because they are obviously a wonderful club, whose fans are loyal, not in the slightest bit fickle,I mean losing 800 fans from a fixture in two years isn't too bad is it???? Their players don't make late challenges or fall over at the slightest touch by an opposing player,do they?? Their management team are gracious in defeat, aren't they??? Their fans are gracious in defeat and never blame the referee or slate an opposition club off,do they???

Their players don't get sent off for punching people,do they????

Obviously the answer to all these must be a resounding no,otherwise why would I want us to be modelled on them, they are a wonderful club, salt of the earth, how I wish we was more like wonderful old Billericay Town Fc!!!

There are some good aspects of Billericay, there's some good events that they put on and it seems to be well run.

I think we're catching up in that respect, after the mess that Colin was left those sort of things take time. It seems that we're in a much better position financially than we were.

The work that we're doing with the Teenage Cancer Trust - I know that Jordan is the main driving force behind that, but it shows that as a club we are trying to put something back into the community.

They've also got some decent supporter there underneath it all, the trouble is they have a few outspoken ones who maybe lack a bit of common sense on occasions (sorry Billericayboy28 this means you!).

I wouldn't swap our management team for theirs, that's for sure. I think that Emporer Ming really is living on another planet. It's not the first time he's made some silly comments in the local paper.

I couldn't see Jimmy doing that.

As for the players for the recent game, I think that both sets of fans have highlighted the issues of the other team and maybe papered over the other events, At the end of the day there was only two major incidents, the one in the Billericay goalmouth and the incident with Tam. I don't think that Hornchurch were any dirtier than Billiercay and maybe a few of their fans need to look at it more impartially.

I'm sure that there's things that Billericay do that we could look to do ourselves but I'm happy being an Urchin and sticking to our own path.

Cup Of Tea on the hornchurch forum where i previously commented all i stated was that many of your fans believed you were cheated out the game, and i saw differently. That's football, 99% of fans disagree on things, i also said if the Sappleton thing happened as suggested, he completely deserved to go. I may like to voice an opinion on here, but so do you, i have a right to do that as well. In fact if i think Billericay were poor, i'll say they were poor, if i think we deserve to win i will say that. I disagree that i'm not included in the 'decent support' that we have. Seeing as i turn up every game, but you're entitled to your opinion, as am i

Fairly harsh statement Eastside Urchin. Yes the club has a few bad moments, every club is the same, maybe we have more than others but the staff as well as the fans want to win. Becoming aggressive towards refs etc can be a bad thing but its shows the clubs passion to succeed to do well.

You can't slate Billericay off when Hornchurch isn't exactly the 'perfect' club. I know i am obviously going to be biased towards Billericay as its my local club, but Billericay is a good club. Its well run club with the majority of the things the club takes part in, especially the youth team as I've been part of it. Each club makes mistakes, Hornchurch is no different.

I never said we was perfect. And I have nothing against your club, know the management and owners well.

My comments are more aimed at a few if your forum warriors who think that they are whiter than white.I must also point out that those fans I actually get on with too but just think they sometimes wear very rose tinted glasses
