BigDogCol
The stakes were raised today ahead of Saturday's FA Cup derby clash between Hertford Town & Cheshunt as the breaking news was confirmed that Cheshunt had indeed parted company with manager, Tony Faulkner. Rumours are abound that ex-Arsenal player Omar Riza maybe in with a shout of taking over in the manager's hotseat following Cheshunt's imminent defeat on Saturday at Hertingfordbury Park. If you want to see how this plays out . . . check http://hertfordtownfc.co.uk/?p=1597 for details.

Horace
250 x £6 comes to £1500 if I'm not mistaken, nice! You ARE mistaken, as always! 250 gate would include about 150 @ £6 , 80 @ £2 and 20 @ £1, and about 10 freebies = about £1,000 Take out The Ambers' travel expenses and the match officials and that's about £200 left for Hertford after sharing the gate with the visitors. LoucasX
Attendance was disappointingly 184. The same as we got for Colney Heath game in previous round, was expecting more as Cheshunt are local, they are a higher league and this is a round further in the competition. Horace sums look about right.....except there are probably 30 freebies. But the match was amazing. 4-2 to Hertford Town and we could have had more goals. So proud of the boys. 2 downsides. Injury to Anthony Anstead. And a bit of a kerfuffle when 2 players squared up to each other and a Cheshunt fan jumped on to pitch to join in! He got a shock though when one of players mums laid in to him.

BigDogCol
Great game, decent crowd, good weather, loads of goals and plenty of "incidents" to chat about. Two journalists attended and must have been pleased they picked the tie of the day! Referee was shockingly awful and lost control of the game early on but it also made for an interesting spectacle for the Stable End Massive to sing about. I do wish we get a bigger club with proper, vocal support to banter with at some point this season though . . . SSML is still too quiet.

Have to agree with BDC but a couple of extra points if I may: He was far too kind about the referee - easily by far the most incompetent buffoon I have seen for many a year. I pity the poor sods in the Ryman that have to put up with that level of officialdom week in week out. I must admit to being a little critical of SSML officials in the past but this bloke really took the biscuit. Don't know who he was or where he was from, but he couldn't have made a worse effort of officiating a game if he tried. More cards than a heated game of poker, in what wasn't a nasty game at all and responsible through his own incompetence for the "brawl" towards the end of the game. Secondly, at the end of the game a number of the Cheshunt players came over and applauded the home supporters! That was serious dignity in defeat and I for one applaud such a gesture. All in all a local cup derby between two teams generally showing great respect for one another but tarnished by an official, who quite honestly, didn't really have a clue! petethegreek
Both A/R's officite on the SSML. How did they do?
Dave-KL
Delighted for the Blues to get that result - especially in such an emphatic manner. I'm trying to think when Hertford last knocked out higher league oppo in the FAC. I remember so well the Dulwich and Staines wins when the Blues got to the 3rd QR but that was 20+ years ago - can't think of any others since but maybe I've missed something ... In overall terms the gates have been better than I can remember for a long long time ..... Dave

Septimus
Both A/R's officite on the SSML. How did they do? I don't think they did particularly badly but the ref just seemed to ignore them most of the time. There was one comedy moment in the first half when one assistant was flagging for an offside against Cheshunt whilst at the same time the other was flagging for a throw in to Cheshunt. The ref, seeing both officials flagging simultaneously didn't seem to have a clue what to do (as he didn't appear to take much notice of his assistants, he didn't see which flag had gone up first). After much deliberation, and chants of "you don't know what you're doing" from the Stable End, he opted for the throw. As I recall the offside flag had gone up first so probably one of the many decisions he got wrong.
