Can You Hear The Urchins Whinge?

Recommended Posts

An entertaining derby where Town matched a more stonger opposition, flying high on the back of some good results. We scored two good goals in each half, the second, when down to 10 men. Horchurch clawed their way back to 2-2 and then had one of theirs sent off. We could easily of snatched it at the end.

However for true entainment go over to their Forum and have a laugh

1) They were tired from Saturday

2) The ref was poor and biased

3) We were play acting all the time

4) Our goalie deliberately stamped on their man ( well he did go down under him)

5) They were the better team

6) Their "Eric Cantona" style reckless and dangerous tackle was 50/50 and many refs would not

     red carded their man.

Only a matter of time before they claim they had over 100 there !!!!

Laughable, even to your opinion on this forum is different from that on ours lol

Out of respect for your Forum, I try to be reasonably balanced as guest visitor.

On my Forum I am within my rights to draw attention to to some of the more entertaining comments being made at your end. I only comment on what I can actually see, so Cup of Tea, I never participated in claims of play acting last December as I was unable to be there. Today I saw play acting on both sides but nothing serious. I defer to your observations about the goal mouth melee as I was not close enough. However, I was close to your red card and I can assure you it was a no- brainer for the ref.

I'll always side with my teams but I try and avoid the rose tinted spectacles. Hope the 200 of you enjoyed our Beer lol

I thought it was a better performance from Billericay, perhaps this was because it was a derby. But we played with more desire which is always good, in all i think we deserved the win, the first yellow for Sappleton was ridiculous, but i can't argue with the 2nd yellow, however if there was no 1st yellow he'd of still been on the pitch. Which would of probably meant a different outcome, we offered more which is good to see. Both our goals were set up by passes along the ground, and when we play on the floor i feel we do better. Hopefully we build up more and more each game. COYB

It's great that both teams get passionate about this fixture, we're always going to have disagreements, but it would be boring otherwise.

Blue Pilgrim - I didn't actually mean you personally, if you took it that way then I apologise. Some of you did however (which on your forum you have every right to).

And you are correct, you are always respectful on our forum.

In respect to the Sappleton sending off, and the first yellow, I can understand why many people feel it wasn't a yellow and therefore he shouldn't have been sent off.......but......we have to learn to play the referee.  Forgetting any personal opinions as to his "ability", Sappleton had been penalised for every challenge he'd gone up for.  He had been warned by the referee.....fouled again, and as a result got booked.  Whether you/we/I agree with it or not - it was there and it was coming.  We have to learn.

It's usually fairly obvious what sort of official we're going to get during a game, within about 10 minutes.  As supporters we can shout and make our feelings heard, but players need to understand how they are being refereed and adapt accordingly.  In the same way we'd expect them to adapt to the scoreline, substitutions, weather conditions and the state of the pitch.  I don't like it - but it's part of the game (sadly)!

Once in this position, he shouldn't have been involved in the melee.  You are always going to give the officials a decision to make.  His card was clearly marked, and he got involved where he didn't need to.  Also, from what I heard....his involvement in the melee could have resulted in a straight red from another official.

But as for the Hornchurch challenge not being a red.......

I didn't know Jackie Chan has signed for Hornchurch!  Even the bench turned round the supporters behind the dugout and acknowledged that was a red....there were no complaints from them for that.

On the game itself....I thought we played some of the best stuff we'd played this season so far.  Plenty of improvement.  The new guys looked solid....and Geoffrey did a great job until he was injured.  I think 2-2 was a fair result (although we could have nicked it - and I'd have taken it in a heartbeat!!).  I won't be at Grays as the move to Sunday means I'm double booked - but have high hopes now that things are starting to improve.

Starting to feel somewhat better about this season......let's keep it up.  See you for the Bognor game!

Well articulated Gareth J and thanks Cup o Tea for your earlier comment.

By the way - a good substitution by Craig at halftime - with Hornchurch pushing for the equaliser against 10 men, Campbell's pace stretched them and he took the goal very well.

Anyone know why our regular keeper was missing?

I think two people from our forum thought our red was harsh.

From our position behind the goal, all we could see was your player and tam making the challenge but not the impact, anyone with a slight angle would of been a le to see how bad it was but if it was as high as was said then there could only be one outcome

It could have taken Halle's head off and given the situation a challenge that lacked intelligence.

After that just as when it was 11v11 the only team who looked like winning we're the blues.

A typical derby game ruined by a whistle happy official aided by a typically theatrical Upminster team.

Gutted to have missed this one against what the urchins consider to be the best team in the RPL.

But reading both forums nothings changed between the two teams other than the Urchins can maybe be called BTFC's B team with the amount of Ricky rejects they have on their books

on the Brightside i get to revisit C@ney for the next best derby.

If Sappleton stays on, we'd probably have gone on and won it. He's a unit and it's easy for refs to a give foul when the oppo screams for it (he's just physically stronger). Couldn't see the scuffle but hopefully he'll learn from it cos as the season progresses, he's gonna be a proper handful for any defence as long as he stays on the pitch. Two good goals by us and two good goals for them. Shame there were no old bill in the ground to nick Eyong for ABH. Benji's coming to get ya!
