Billericay 2 Hx 2

cup of tea

Recommended Posts

This was everything that you would expect from a derby game - goals, controversial moments, red cards etc.,

Never a dull moment in a game between the two of us.

Who's the happier? Well from Emperor Ming's reaction at the end probably Billericay.

What was clear to me that the tough game in heavy conditions against Lowestoft had taken it's toll on Hornchurch and they looked on occasions jaded against a side who have had the w/e off. Tremendous spirit to come back from 2-0 down, both sides having the opportunity to nick all three points at the end.

The main thing that stood out from this game, which i agree with the above (COT), is the spirit which we had to come back from being two down. It just shows what sort of team and determination that we have. So credit to the whole team really.

Wasn't going to be the best of games any way, but having a c**k handed ref that bottled it all the time and made some absolute terrible decisions in a derby game was never going to go down well.

The joke that was their goalie should've been sent off for stamping on Elliott. then "falling over" him as if he didn't see him on the floor?!!?

Their number 9 is a yob and glad he was sent off. You cannot lock you arm around a players neck and then start punching them.

Feel sorry for Tam as it was his first game back and he really changed the game when he came on. His sending off IMO was a little harsh, it was 50 / 50 and he had to go for the ball. Some refs wouldn't have given it and yet, like today some did!

Point taken and we move on to Dulwich Hamlet next weekend.

We were the better side IMO

On paper you were the better side Eastside but on the day you deserved no more than you got. I expected you to create more, especially against a rookie keeper. Still Saturday must have been very tough for your boys but on the other hand your confidence must have been high.

Agree with points above. Scrappy first half but dominated the second strangely without really testing the GK up until mid point of the 2nd half.

Once Tam was introduced his direct approach caused them all sorts of problems and I feel that red card was very harsh...it was a ball he had to go for.

Once Bourne switched flanks we looked alot better...he hugs the touchline whereas DD seems to be more central minded and with 'the speedy' Collis switching to right back CB was alot more attack minded causing Collis problems. Our defence coped with their long ball tactic and our midfield looked sharp too...

Good support from us today too even when 2.0 down...just a shame Collis seemed to had previously eaten 250 of their fans... :(

You did have a couple of chances to win it at the end admittedly. I would have been mortified if you have had nicked it though.

Your goalkeeper really needs to watch his behaviour in the future - he's not always going to get a naïve ref. Not surprised he's a rookie.

Can anyone who was behind the goal set out exactly what happened when the number 9 was shown a second yellow - surely it should have been a straight red.

Keeper catches ball.

Falls on Elliot who is taken off with blood streaming down his face - did he accidently stamp on Elliot?

Then what? The number nine joined in but who did he hit / push ?

And why was Rickie Hayles booked a few seconds later?

Sorry have to disagree, Tam's sending off was 100% correct. Having had the benefit of seeing it again, I think that any ref not showing a red card would expect to be running the line at an Essex Senior League match at the weekend.
