Grey Ghost report:

Hartley 6-0 Alton

After the debacle of Saturday (which I was fortunate not to see) when I was told Hartley never turned up they needed to bounce back quickly and to put that game to bed which they did with a rousing bang in a 6-0 routing of Alton Town. For the first ten minutes it seemed all very strange because Hartley did not concede a goal and though Shane scored midway through the half Alton also hit the post and had a couple of chances so a 1-0 lead at half time was a fair reflection on the game with no hint of what was to come. However within ten minutes of the restart Hartley were 3-0 up thanks to the Scouser and Shane and for the first time this season we were totally in control of the game. Then Sam Argent came off as a precaution and Ryan Stephens arrived from the bench and immediately scored twice in ten minutes. It was also great to see Ashley Lloyd come on for the last 20 minutes recuperating after his horrendous injury last season (and it has been obvious that he has been sorely missed) and he ended up heading in the final goal after a scintillating run from Jack Coventry.

We should have had plenty more but what the hell lets not worry about that. With Shane, Ryan and Sam as strikers, with Jack sitting just behind them (Dills will not be getting a look in) it is going to be pretty entertaining. In the top five with 13 points from six games.

Next stop Badshot Lea in the Cup, who will be a different kettle of fish, but with confidence sky high after this performance the lads can do it.
